Could they get a strike?

Say someone uploads a compilation of something and the videos aren't theirs, but they don't have copyright claims on the video. If someone else uploaded a video after using some of the same content, could the first guy who put those clips together take the second guy's video down? Because his was posted first? Or does it have to be the person's original content to do that. Thanks!

I think the only person who can take the video down is the creator of the original content.

If someone would steal my video and put them in a compilation and the same video also appears in someone elses compilation I would probably ask both creators to cut my videos out of the video and if they don't do that I would take the videos down.

Adding on to what Jingle Bells said, I'm assuming you're referring to Vanoss Impersonators or related channels, so if they post the same exact video or a montage of multiple videos and MONETIZE them, they can be copyright striked if the original user chooses to contact YouTube about the situation. The impostor can also be fined by YouTube for that, and have their money that they earned with the copy-videos taken away from them as well by court order if it goes that far.

Not really Vanoss impersonators or anything, but say someone made a compilation of funny videos, and monetized it, could that person (even though they don't own the videos) take down another person's video if they reuploaded it/used some of the same clips? Even though the first guy doesn't actually own the content.

There's a bunch of tricky stuff about "fair use" that I think may allow people to use clips that they don't own so long as they follow certain rules.

Well, if you're thinking about doing it or know someone who does or whatever the reason for posting this is, DONT DO IT. Don't be that guy. Or discourage someone from doing that. If it's happening to you, well, go about it on your own. If you think it's a big enough deal to contact YouTube about it, then go for it. If they are monetizing the videos for their own personal gain, then i would say that you should do something about it, or whoever you are talking about in this case.

But, all in all, they can not take down the original video. Say Vanoss posts a video, then someone makes a montage or something of that video combined with others from his channel, upload it and monetize it, it can not take down the original video(s). BUT, Vanoss can decide if he wants to take down the secondary videos.

Well normally only the original creator can flag you. But you also have trolls that flag for no reason

Sometimes they're monetized by the copyright holder, do you know if the channel is Partnered by a Network?
