Copyrighted Music Question.

This is not true! You simply need to start researching. The official Music Industry has made license agreements with YouTube to allow many songs on their site. You only need a license if you choose to monetize. It's all over the web. I posted a thread about this. People need to start looking instead of assuming false things. Go here to my thread YouTube Copyright Info

Your logical reference is backwards. You can only monetize with a license, but that is not the same thing as you can use music without a license as long as you don't monetize. Your thread contains insufficient detail to assuage concern relating to publisher license deals as it does not in any way indicate which publishers, nor what their arrangements with YouTube are. The phrase "many publishers" is as valuable as "doctors recommend". The base assumption that as long as you don't monetize, you'll be fine is flawed in logic and legality. It is not that simple and ContentID certainly doesn't discriminate as the policies set there apply whether you try to monetize or not.

But did you read the part on HFA where it says ask the publisher? if you email Universal, Warner, and Sony they all tell me you don't need a license if you aren't monetizing. email youtube@warnerchappell.com for example and let me know what you get back. It's also posted on the individual's publishers website[DOUBLEPOST=1426889398,1426889254][/DOUBLEPOST]

The fact that I've personally checked with the publishers before uploading my videos makes me sure that I have the right to upload it. I also email them and ask on a song by song basis.

still would get copyright infringement because you don't own the licence to use it in your own production. YouTube is public that's why but it's different if its personal life for school or family.

How about we tweet @teamyoutube and ask them if you need a license. If they say no then youtube would be right.[DOUBLEPOST=1427168476,1427108269][/DOUBLEPOST]I tweeted the youtube support team and was told that as long as users on youtube acknowledge the copyright claim and your video is not blocked worldwide you don't need permission and that you have not committed any sort of copyright infringement.
