Copyrighted Music Question.

I know this is probably a nooby question but I just need some clarification.

Obviously, if someone monetizes a video with copyrighted music then it will get taken down. But, what would happen if I used copyrighted music in a video without monetizing? Would the video still get taken down?

Thanks.

Video is not taken down in many cases, instead, it is marked with third party copyright claim, then all earning from this point forward goes to copyright holder (even if you haven't monetized it yourself adds may appear next to that video).

To add to this; some vids can still be blocked from several countries, if the copyright holder decides to annoy you.

Thanks for the advice guys. I have had a look at the feature in the YouTube library where you can see which countries the song might be blocked in. & the song I would like to use is 'available to upload worldwide'. I don't care about monetizing so if I use this song then I shouldn't get any strikes right? :)

Not true... I used a song which is blocked in 3 countries. I got a copyright claim which blocked my video for almost half the world....
