Ok first thing first, I've uploaded a video that looked "CC".

In 4 days (at this moment) its now over 90K views thats amazing !... But something happened 3 days ago ... a "viral video" agency did a copyright claim and has turned off the monetization of it so I was mad of course.

Im saying to myself okay lets see their page, as I can see they have the same video but under a different name and they uploaded it a day after mine and got barely under 400 views lol, so basically I couldnt know that content was under "license".

I e-mailed them to investigate about this so there is the quotes of the e-mail exchanges:

I just noticed that you did a copyright claim on the bird video that I uploaded before yours (November 20th Mine) vs (November 21th Yours) and its now at 80K views in 3 days, so I couldn't know that video was under license because nobody has uploaded it at this moment.

So basically I want to know how much it cost to have the rights to monetize this video ?

Now they answer that:

We hold the exclusive license to this video. The fact that we uploaded it after you did doesn't change that.
We would be able to grant your Youtube channel a non-exclusive license to host the video. The costs for this would be $100 USD . Please let us know how you'd like to proceed.

Now im like whaaat ?? they get my gains and they want me to pay 100$ to make the money i lost lol okay ... I write them back:

So, what the "non-exclusive" license is all about, I mean what is my rights ? If I buy the "non-exclusive" license, will Iget mylost earnings OR I will be able to monetize it when the process of licensing will be finish ? Oh and last question, do you take PayPal ?

Hello David,


Non-exclusive means that we are granting you the right to use the footage, but you will not be the only one with that right, we will be able to sell it again. If you purchase the license, I do not believe that Google will pay you for missed earnings, we will pass whatever earning we have gotten from your version of the video back to you, then you will have to monetize the video on your own. YouTube reports earnings on a delay, but right now I am seeing $10.82 in earnings through Saturday. We do accept PayPal (info@viralhog.com, is our PayPal address) let me know if you wish to proceed.

So now my question would be; is it real ?? seems a nice scam pay 100$ to get back your 10.82$... they can really do that ?

Ask them who they got the exclusive rights license from and contact the people they claim to have got it from. Contact google and let them know whats going on and tell them this is a potential scam. This sounds really fishy to me.
 
exactly what I think but ..... im a bit lost I don't know who to contact, looks like a process that would take forever to settle.....
 
you said it was in cc which in this case you may not have any right to sell it. if it was cc-3 cc-2 cc-1 yes you can sell it but if you didn't give credit like you should have then your mess up.

Man the point is not which category of CC's it is, and anyway there is no strike applied they just desactivated monetization, im not even in trouble lol I will try to find the OP of the video ... wont be a easy task -.-
 
That blue writing is harsh on my eyes... That aside, this doesn't sound legit to me but be careful with it! Don't file a dispute unless you are 100% sure! I can't see paying $100 for the rights to use the video being real.. Sounds like a scam & even if it wasn't is it really worth it to pay $100 to get $10 back? Plus by the sounds of it this person is saying you pay $100 for the right to host the video on your channel, that doesn't mean you'll pay able to monetise even if you did pay the money!

Thats what I would do but man I dont even know if they are legit or somethin lol they could tell me BS if they want ... so I cant rely just on THEM ... but i'll give a try anyway I got something to lose haha

No I never cliked on the Dispute button in youTube, I just searched to contact them outside YT before doing anything I could regret.

And now im sure the video has gained more than 10,82 since now, the views count is at 96K now and still growing ... or I could just pass on this video and delete it so they stop make money off my @ss.
 
lol all you have to do is ask who gave them the rights and contact that person to see i they are legit. if they dont give you proper information, then its complete bullshizzwha.
