Copyright issues

can you tell me where i can find it? so i can quote it
I am having the same issues uploading ACIV gameplay. "Brothers and Sons" seem to be claiming the black transition screen before a cinematic scene. I disputed it as well but did you end up finding that Ubisoft pdf in case it doesn't work?
Thanks

I thought you were suppose to skip the cutscenes in the games to avoid getting strikes?
This depends on the developers own policies. You will only get a strike if you upload without permission and/or violate their policies and terms given with the permissions.
You should be fine as long as you don't monetize your vidoes. Monetization can be turned on (which it has to in order for you to have custom thumbnails) but it don't let it show adds on any of your videos. So as long as you don't do that nor use music, use other people's intros, just straight upload others vidoes or other things that you don't have permission to use you should be fine. Once you're part of a gaming network you can get revenue without risking of getting any strikes though.
Incorrect. Networks have to follow the same restrictions that we do, they are not exempt from copyright laws and developer/publisher policies and with YouTube's new network policies the networks have more responsibility for any copyright issues now, meaning they are just as useless as they were before. You can still get copyright strikes while part of a network. Also Ubisoft let you monetise.

So I guess the only reason to join a network now is just because they pay more than adsense?

Pretty much. You get a few extra benefits here and there and apparently CPMs with networks are better. The other advantage is that the content ID manager doesn't detect your videos (from what I've read I could be wrong) but this doesn't mean that the video can't be flagged by the developers/publishers. Also with the new network policies in place, videos monetised under a network are now screened for a longer period. They have also come up with the affiliates and managed sections. Affiliates are basically on their own but get some benefits of the network, managed is where you get the full benefits of a network.

Just an update,
I disputed the claim just by saying that the game was produced by Ubisoft and not "Brothers and Sons" and that my videos are not monetized.
Today the claim has been removed from my video.
Thanks for your help all :)

Awesome, glad it helped. Also glad it was nice and fast.

In case anyone is interested. I just keep a copy of this saved on my desktop and copy paste into the comment section of the dispute. Something really needs to be done about these fake companies though. Its getting pretty bad.

Ubisoft policy on YouTube videos (links removed to meet site guidelines for posts)
Ubisoft Video Policy

We consider ourselves fortunate to have fans actively engaging with our game content.

Using the guidelines below, please feel free to make videos (walkthroughs, Let’s Play, reviews, etc.) with Ubisoft game content and publish to your website, YouTube or similar digital services.

Specifically:

  • Do not take assets from our games (e.g. voice, music, items) and distribute them separately.
  • Unless approved by us, the use of our content in videos must be non-commercial.
  • Do not charge users to view or access your videos.
  • Do not sell or license your videos to others for a payment of any kind.
  • Behave like a decent human being. Absolutely no racist, sexist, homophobic, or offensive content.
  • Please keep your videos focused on our games, and away from overtly controversial topics.

Failure to abide by these content guidelines may result in Ubisoft taking action to have your video removed. Ubisoft will, at its sole discretion, determine if your video does not comply with these content guidelines. We do not want to police video upload communities. We prefer to focus our efforts on creating games.

You are free to monetize your videos via the YouTube partner program and similar programs on other video sharing sites.

We are not staffed to respond to requests for individual video copyright clearance. Should anyone require proof of this policy, point them here instead.

Please note: This policy applies only to Ubisoft content. If you include someone else's content in your video, such as music, you will need permission from the owner of said content.

If you have questions that fall outside of the guidelines listed above, please contact us at:

I just started getting trolled by "Brothers and Sons" as well. Any one found out anything about this or how to put a stop to it?
