Copyright in name

Hey I didn't know were to go with this but I have a problem I made my YouTube account in March and I had a person ask me if I want him to make me a website so I agreed since he mentioned nothing about paying for it and then a few months went by and then he said he's started it and then he tells me I then have to pay for it which I never agreed to do and out of kindness I paid him his money he used to make the website. He then tells me he bought copyright to the name " UkesTV " and said he could " screw us over" and I was just wondering if he could do anything about my YouTube because my Channel is " UKEStv " and since I made it in March and he got the copyright this month can he do anything? seeing as the casing is different and the complete time difference ? I really need help with this so if anybody know please help me. Thank you
 
lol at you paying the guy. There is no reason why you should be worried about copyright because he claims to own the rights to UkesTV. If he ever tries to take you to court make sure you keep every single email he ever sends you. Plus it would be kinda hard to get someone in trouble because they used a channel name on youtube. If so then all of the people who make parody twitter accounts could be sued for the accounts they made of famous people. Also if he ever brings up the copyright thing tell him to send you a copy of it.
 
Well I made my youtube in March like I said and he knew I had that name but he got the copyright anyway this month without me even asking but like I said is casing is completely different he has proof that he bought copyright to UkesTV but my YouTube is UKEStv so I wanted to know if he could do anything about my YouTube even though its spelt different.
 
Are you 100% sure he has UKesTV trademarked? I cannot find that in the USA database of trademarks. If he hasnt paid to register it there is little that he can do and even if he has I doubt his uses of the name will be the same as your own.

Well are you both doing the same thing? have you searched to see if he actually bought it? You should do some research on digital copyrights. Because if someone told me personally they bought the rights to a youtube channel name I had I would laugh at them. Because they are an idiot if they do not have an actual business behind the name. Plus he wouldn't have to talk to you about your youtube name that would be something he would have to take up with google personally I believe since they own youtube which they own the channels everyone makes.

That is what I am thinking, it would be a waste of money paying to trademark a name which isnt giving something back. A quick search on Google suggests to me that theres no business behind it as of yet at least.
 
This is the only proof he gave (I've attached it to this) but Like I said its spelt differently with the Capitials and Lower cases so can he do anything about my YouTube witht this?

Listen man why are you worrying about trademark on this? Are you and him doing the same thing? Honestly you were a tool for paying him any money for the website in the first place.
 
No he has his own YouTube account, all I do is make video's on YouTube so does he but with a completely different Account name
