"Copying" Another YouTuber

So I have a quick question regarding a series I wanted to do.

RoosterTeeth, a really famous gaming channel, has a YouTube series called "VS", where they challenge someone to a 1v1 match in any game of their choosing. The winner keeps the title, and the loser rotates with the other members of the group. The next person comes in, challenges that winner to the game, and they keep rotating.

I figured this would be super fun to do, and I think we're funny enough to make it work. I thought about bending things a tiny bit, and making it so the person that reaches 10 wins first is the overall winner, and then we switch the rotation order. I also was going to change the name to "King of the Hill".

I know my changes are not significant, but I planned on putting in the first video "Inspired by RoosterTeeth's VS series", and then having that be in the description of each video, just so I give credit to the idea.

We have a ton of original ideas we want to put out on our channel, but this is one series that always looked like fun, and it's something I've been wanting to try. If I gave credit for the idea, would people still likely call us out for it?

As long as you mention RoosterTeeth there should be no problem, but be aware some people may not read the title/description or miss your mention of RT in the video and will still call you out regardless. People will troll/play the blame game/accuse you of copying, even if you say "inspired by" or give credit. So, just make the video, credit RT, and be content that you are being responsible about it and do not worry about people calling you out :)

It doesn't really matter what you do on your videos, chances are someone has done it too! So if I was you I'd make what ever video you wanted but IF what you're doing is well known then yeah, give credit, but put something like "Inspired by....." x
 
Yeah dude, nothing wrong with that, although i'd recommend mentioning you got the idea from Rooster Teeth somewhere. Maybe in the start of the video, and the description.

They would but if something looks fun and you're respectful enough to credit them then you can easily make them look like the fool and point them towards wherever you put your recognition. :) have fun!
 
Drawing inspiration is natural he also probably gained inspiration for that series from someone else. I would not reference his content in your videos because that is counter productive. I would reach out to him personally and thank him for the inspiration if you wanted to show gratitude. I would also continue to brainstorm a bit more so that you can truly make your content unique in comparison to his
