Continued Harrassment

Maybe someone already said this, but if you have a name, block it. It may not stop all the thumbs down, but might deter the person a bit.

Indeed. Thanks Th3Stuff. We're going to wait and see if they do it again. If they do, we'll block them. The thought is that they might get really p****d if we do that and then form an army and mass dislike our videos. Anyhow, we'll wait and if they do it again, we'll just disable likes/dislikes. Thanks for the reply.

Wanted to update this thread.

We have tried a number of things to fix this horrible issue.

Nothing has worked.

Here we are, nearing two months of hard work. We've partnered with RPM, hit 10k views, 175 subs and are doing great. Having a really fun time.

Yet, this issue with this one troll persists.

We turned off ratings for more than a week. Put them back on and the troll wasn't doing anything. Fast forward a few weeks and he's back, using multiple accounts to thumbs-down our videos multiple times in the span of a few minutes.

It's sickening. We work very hard and this is destroying the chances of our videos being seen in the suggested video boxes.

If we turn off ratings = the videos don't show up in suggested videos along the right side of videos.
If we leave ratings on = troll keeps thumbs-downing our videos = video doesn't show up in suggested videos along the right side of videos.

According to our stats, most of our views come from suggested videos.

Both YouTube and our network partner cannot and will not provide any assistance with this harassment. We have tried all avenues of help there.

Are there any other suggestions out there?

Mike

dislikes don't destroy chances of your videos being seen. I'd love someone to come and give my vids multiple dislikes.

likes and dislikes are equal. Youtube counts how many ratings the video has. Likes show up in feeds. Dislikes do not.
The mere fact that this is bothering you so much is why this person (or people) continue to do this...

The reason you get no assistance is because it is a complete waste of your time and youtube/network's time to even care... This is part of having a youtube channel.

I think lesson learned here is refrain from negative comments on others channels until your channel has the stability to withstand a petty retaliation... That being said, as the adage goes, "even bad press is good press" I'd be complimented on their energy and time spent to bolster your channel with activity, even if negative... I think in the long-run it's all pretty inconsequential and YT might not be responding to your grievance b/c it happens too often to do anything about... Hope the situation gets better for you though =)

Thanks Matt and Dylan,

Again, as stated before, we didn't make any negative comments on other's channels. We wouldn't do that ever.

Matt: This is what we didn't really know for sure. So negative and positive ratings are counted equally when suggesting a video? That didn't come up in any of my extensive research on the topic which is why we're so freaked out.

If this is the case, then we can rest easy. Do you have a link that says that? I need to show it to the other half of the channel. He'd be happy to see it as well.

Thanks for your replies.

AFAIK, a rating is a rating is a rating is a rating. The search engine just counts how many ratings your video has. Likes show up in feeds. Dislikes don't...
