Hehe, if you think so.
"Fair use is a copyright principle based on the belief that the public is entitled to freely use
portions of copyrighted materials for purposes of commentary and criticism. For example, if
you wish to criticize a novelist, you should have the freedom to quote a portion of the novelist’s
work without asking permission" quoted from the vultra handbook :p

I will delete and find out more on how small channels grow.

Thanks for the lesson in partnered vs small channel diplomacy Shane

Machinima Yeousch TGS Vultra
I know that everyone THINKS all these networks have some magical blanket license for all games (which is completely ridiculous if you think about it), but have you EVER seen a list of games these networks supposedly have licenses for? If you do find one I would be genuinely interested. The only one I've heard of is that Machinima has a deal with activision for CoD, but that's it. Don't you think the first thing a network would do is supply their partners with a list of games they have a license for?

Well I know who Vultra has licenses with :p
About 15+ publishing companies, the only main one they really dont have is rockstar games... its close to impossible to get a license with them , I know machinima also has a list of licenses... some other networks just have a few ones...

Interesting, I'll have to do more research on that. I guess my original point was people shouldn't assume that just because they're with "a network" means they can make whatever game video they want and expect it to be fair use.

I kinda consider it stupid actually. That means any and ALL gameplays of DMC should get copyright notices NO EXCEPTIONS. and I bet you they don't. Full Partners or not.

It just seems a little unfair on smaller channels that you buy the game, put work into the recording and editing and then upload and sometimes you will get the "third party content" warning and other times you wont. I completely understand the need for copyright protection, and I do not claim this IP to be mine or have permission (before you get all worked up Shane) , but for those of us without any backup or guidance, we do not know if that time will be wasted.

Then, if we do decide to acknowledge the third party match, we dont know if they will track the vid, block it outright and we potentially end up with a copyright strike ruining our hopes, or if the company will just place ads on the vid, which most smaller channels would be fine with I presume.

It just seems like a bit of a 'shot in the dark guessing game' to me, and one that does not help commentators at all. If we knew the deal, I'm sure things would be easier.

And I like doing what I do, so pedantic comments like "YOU DO NOT OWN THE GAME LICENSE" is just preaching to the choir. I am 36, not 12, and I am perfectly happy to stick to the legal rules as laid out by YouTube.
