Content ID Claim Question

Michael

I Love YTtalk
I am interested in knowing how this works, Content ID picks up a song in a video and places a claim on behalf of XYZ company, the user disputes the claim, during that time of the dispute and from when the claim is first placed on the video, monetisation is fully disabled, is that correct? I want to make sure I am understanding how it works correctly.

Thank you.

YouTube automatically searches for music that could "potentially" be protected, claim it, and then notify the content holders. They can either have your ads disabled, and keep ads directly beside your video, generating revenue for the original content creator. However, the content holder also has the power to either say no to you having the content on there, and have your video muted (until material is removed), or the entire video disabled.

This is how it worked for me, so I put the video to unlisted until it was settled. Took a month one time.

Thanks guys, I have one with a claim on, something that concerns me is releasing a video with a claim on, with monetisation being disabled, I am wondering if it affects rankings.

That's my understanding. Video uploaded, monetization applies to the claiming channel originator. ContentID flags it, monetization gets redirected to the owner of the ContentID account. When a dispute is initiated, monetization is disabled.

I've not seen or heard any indication of ranking being affected. It all will come back to the general theory of whether YouTube ranks monetized more heavily, which we don't have any real evidence other than logic to support.

I mean it doesn't "look" good, but it's up to you.

I will release it any way, I just hope they hurry up, I cant stand waiting for things like this when you have a license.

Thanks Tarmack. I have to admit I hate having to wait, it has been over 8 hours now since the claim went on and was disputed right away. I have stuck in an email direct to them too via their contact form. I really hope releasing videos with disputed claims on them unmonetised has no major effect on rankings etc

I've seen claims last months, and months.
