Contacting Companies for Free Stuff

PinProject

I Love YTtalk
I know, I know, I know I'm still a "small youtuber" but I got some extra time on my hands and I want to try to get the attention of some companies to send me free stuff. Has anyone successfully attempted doing this? Or have a template I can use to contact them?

I have contacted KONG before succesfully. They have sent me 2 pet toys (value of less than 10 dollars each). I just filled in the contact form on the website.
No succes with more expensive stuff though.

Did you introduce your channel and provide them with your analytics?

I said that I had a YouTube channel, what it was about and a link to it. And what I was planning to do with their product (in my case: do a review). If you did a similar review before you can maybe add a link to that so they know what to expect.

But that's paid sponsorship. That's different from sending you free stuff and you are able to do whatever you want with it.
But maybe also interesting.
I do guitar gear videos. In my research, other larger reviewers won't do a video on a product they don't like if it was submitted by a manufacturer and that's a good model. Unless your paying for everything you review you need to tread that ground carefully. Joe's widgets would be unlikely to send you a free widget if you recently had a video saying that Bob's thing-a-magic stunk like moldy head cheese on a overused litter box.
...just food for thought.

Yes, obviously, but if you do a paid sponsorship they pay you and tell you what to say, where with just free goods, you are free to use your own words and it can 90% positive, doesn't have to be 100%.
