Computer build

I've Got It
Hello guys!
Well I was thinking of getting a desktop computer that I could build. I have never built a computer or know nothing about making computers. I have been researching a lot and I have heard that having a high extensive CPU is great for editing and I need a really nice GPU for gaming. But my problem is the Motherboard. I don't understand what a motherboard is and what it's good for. So I was wondering if somebody out there could help me with a Computer Build. And give me an idea on what a Motherboard is. I'm thinking about spending around 1000$. But I don't know yet. So if anyone could help me out, it'd be great. Thanks guys!

If you want to get a high quality CPU and GPU you will need something like an Asus Z77 motherboard, or even the Sabertooth X79 model, one of the best out there.

A motherboard holds all the parts of your PC together, such as your CPU, GPU etc. The only thing you really need from a motherboard is one which is reliable.

When choosing a motherboard, just be wary of the one you buy. You need to buy it with the right sockets for your CPU, otherwise it will not work. :)[DOUBLEPOST=1370561523,1370561376][/DOUBLEPOST]Some motherboards will have more features then others, while others wont. For example some may be able to hold more RAM and have more USB sockets.

Continuing on what Dananuh said, for example, the most recent Ivy Bridge Intel processors would require a 2011 socket motherboard, such as the ones I mentioned.

You don't need such a mobo for GPUs etc unless you plan like SLI 690s etc :p

Do you plan on only gaming with it?[DOUBLEPOST=1370562459,1370562439][/DOUBLEPOST]

You can get muchh cheaper mobos that also support 64gb ^^
I suppose, Thats why I also recommended the Z77, they are really not dear at all :)
