The community tab is still quite a new feature for YouTube channels with over 10,000 subscribers (I only just squeezed in through the door). I believe it has great potential to help a channel grow in both numbers and engagement and so I'm experimenting with using it in different ways.

Since I have quite a big video planned to post on Friday evening I posted a still shot from the video on the community tab a few moments ago. The still shot shows me driving a car, so I ask if anybody can guess what car it is and deduce the boat I shall be reviewing. So far a couple of people have commented, and I have another three still shots that I plan to release before actually publishing the video itself. I'm hoping this will build up anticipation for the video, and therefore increase views.

I'll let you know how it goes if anybody is interested, and I'd be interested to hear from others who have effectively used this feature.
 
I've gotten solid amount of engagement for the two posts I've made so far on the community tab. I think it can be great, just don't dilute it like other social media platforms.

I think you're right about not diluting it. I don't want to irritate subs by posting too much non-video material. For Friday's big video I'll post again today and then again tomorrow...just still shots from some of the most unusual parts of the video. After that I'll leave it until the next hero video.
Good to hear you're getting solid engagement. Me too. Considering the size of my channel, which is still quite small, I had a good number of comments and responded to them all.
 
you can also use it to repost videos that you find interesting and related to your genre. Also I have used it to point to my older videos that new ppl to the channel might have missed :D I find that it is very beneficial to channels that will take a longer time to create their content, posting my wip pics helps a lot in letting others know i am working on something ^^.
