Community tab expansion

I've got a yen for being in Japan!
despite not having 10k subscribers I can post in the community tab on my channel now! Anyone else under 10k get it?
 
Hmm. I have 'discussion tab' is that different somehow? What benefits does the community tab bring to a channel? It appears to look the same to me. I've never used discussion tab and wanted to turn it off. I think you could some time ago but not anymore.

Discussion is comments people post directly to you. Community is more like Facebook or Twitter to message your subscribers directly
 
Thanks gaijillionaire .. does that mean if someone posts in my discussions that its private? Or can any page visitor see whats written in there? I watched your classic edition snes.. are those kinda videos popular on the run up to xmas? I was thinking of making a retro console review of some sort.
 
Wow I just checked your channel and yes you do have the community tab with 4 k subs congrats....I don't know how youtube is rolling out the feature....I have 8k subs but just got the premiere feature today LOL but still no community tab.

I saw you comment on my channel and I was wondering where I saw the icon and I realized it’s fromhere hah cool! Well the feature is going away so it doesn’t matter but there was the option of private and public messages[DOUBLEPOST=1540344547,1540343911][/DOUBLEPOST]

I try to stay updated on the creator insider channel and it looks like these features are almost ready for everyone. They seem to hint that studio beta will be done by the start of 2019 and these features will be available to all by the end of beta.

They also said 1% of users got a tab called explore that gives other suggestions which is something small channels have been asking for so they can get discovered. Maybe that will get a wide release or maybe not
