Comments through Google's notification?

Lilikoi Juice

I do all my own graphics!
I have been having a real difficult time responding to comments since Google replaced Youtube's comment notification system. Before the switch you were able to see the comments in the inbox and you can go through it chronologically whenever you want.

Now, though, once you click on the red notification button over the bell in the top corner, it assumes you are done with it and it does not come back up. The new system "bundles comments up", I am unable to find the notification was looking at chronologically. This results in me having to go into each video's comment section, clicking on 'newest', search for a new comment, and then respond. I receive comments on older videos so you can imagine how tedious this can get.

Is there some function I am missing that can make replying to comments simpler? I have tried looking up, "How to bring back older comments on Google notification" and all it did was tell me to click on 'Previously Read', then 'Google+ Notifications'.

This does bring back older comments, but the drawback is that you have to click on 'Mentions of You' and 'Other's people's posts', and the comments/posts seem to be in no order.

I just want to be able to see each comment separately, and in order, on a single page. :cry2:

Any help would be much appreciated!

There is a red number over the bell you click on to look through the notifications for comments/posts/+1's.

As you can see the comments are all bundled up now and there is no easy way to tell each comment's order.

If you click 'Previously Read' an option to click Google+ Notification or View Posts in Google+ will appear which was suggested through the Google search I did.

The only good thing about this new system is that conversations are shown in threads. I don't think there is any way to check the comments individually in chronological order anymore. That's the problem with linking a social media website to a video comments page. The formats are not compatible.

I agree it's tedious.

Have you tried the comments screen which is under "communities" ? That seems to group together all comments under 1 roof if you see what I mean?

Yeah, I've tried that but my comments never seem to work, ha. It's strange; it keeps telling me it will be available soon. :O_o2:

Yeah, it's weird, that feature was working for me a few days ago, but not since they moved the inbox to the community tab...lol It basically had all comments listed in chronological order (from all videos) and you could reply from there.

Have you still got the email notifications? They contain a link to be able to reply directly via a YT page. It's not ideal, but that might be a solution. Other than that, I'm not sure either and I'm dreading the day I get a lot of comments for the same reason.

I'm hoping the comments feature in communities will be the solution ;)

yikes looks bad, I only get comments every now and again so it is no problem for me but if you get multiple ones every day, yeah it looks bad! Have you set up the comments to go to your email, that could help tell you when they came?

Ahh, I see! Well, when they have it working again I will definitely give that a try as it seems to be the best solution thus far!! Thanks! :laugh2:

As far as the e-mail notifications go, they bundle that up too so it is extremely confusing when I go back to look at it, ha. The only solution using the e-mail notification would be to reply to it immediately, but it doesn't give you the 'reply' option which I use when you are on the mobile app, not to mention you most likely don't have the immediate time to reply if you are on mobile. :panda: It's all quite confusing.[DOUBLEPOST=1389174693,1389174618][/DOUBLEPOST]

I get the e-mail notifications but the problem is that they bundle those up and I never have the immediate time to reply to it. Once I see it, it's 'read' and gets bundled together with the other comments from a given video.
