Commenting on other videos

Hello,

I am reading people saying about commenting on videos of other channels (similar of yours) could gain you some views. So what is the general thought about that; does it work?

What is the message you leave behind at the other videos? Do people click on the name to surf to your channel? I hope someone knows an answer to that

I used to leave funny comments on some of my favorite videos. Sometimes they'd get tons of likes, so people would end up checking my channel. It's basically just my usual routine, but it does end up benefiting my channel.

You got a point there Dino. If it's already a habit to comment on videos you like, then it's a bonus if someone ends up at your channel. I rarely comment, and actually not planning to start with commenting. I'm just curious if it's worthwhile to comment with the only goal to get in some viewers.

I dont ask people to "give me a chance" or help me reach whatever number
I also don't (and hate) people desperate for likes so people check out their channel, comments like like this if blah blah blah

I'm absolutely sure begging will not work. I was wondering; do you just say something about the video; or do you also say something like: please check my channel?

Similar channels to yours? Is there any? Your channel is by far the most unique I've seen yet

But yeah like @Dino said, I've seen people that I've often seen in some of my favourite YouTubers comment sections come comment, like & even subscribe to me just from me leaving funny or witty comments (something I've always done even before I started uploading). I think that good channel art and a good channel name can affect a persons decision on whether or not to hover over and click your channel/name

Commenting on others videos lets people know you exist, and make videos, and eventually come to your channel and see it, and maybe subscribe!

Id say dont ask them to check out your channel
I just leave normal comments relevant to the video or directed to the creator

It works out sometimes, doesn't get me a lot of views but it works.
