Keeping Yttalk safe since 1967 im the Vigilante
its weird a lot of bigger channel I subbed to there comment sections are mostly empty why is that? I even notice pewdiepie has a videos where it's only ten comments.
It's weird

Many bigs disable comments to avoid spam, or flamewars, and move the video discussion on website like Reddit, where can be better moderated

They probably disable or filter comments or only allow a certain amount. I know pewdiepie has them disabled and only a few go through

Oh I see I mainly use the mobile app so that's probbaly why kinda sad that comments are now moved to another site

PDP has been fighting with comments for ages. I believe he often disables them and moves it to his own forums. You can see on other channels that don't do it their comments blow up within minutes.

If I was a large YouTuber, I probably direct people to my own forum on my website. There I can place additional AdSense ads there. I'd also leave the comments open . With the Google+ integration, it seems like the comments aren't completely aimed at the creator anymore. If the viewer has a decent Google+ following, it's more of a comment to them and would be great for promotion. Also, I think the YT also takes into account the number of engagements (e.g. comments) for their search algorithm.
