Collective Digital- Should I Sign?

I was contacted by Collective Digital today. In my opinion they are on the very short list of networks with which I would do business. They have very few channels (~700) and all of them are either really high value, huge channels, or both. At this point I am so fed up with YouTube I am making videos when I feel like it, not to any sort of schedule. I love making videos but feel insulted at the RPM Adsense is returning. My only reason to join a network is if they were interested in growing my business. In my experience these are the ONLY guys with a phone number, which is a great start. My question is, who here is with collective and what has your experience been?

You should ask @WheresMyChallenge. They signed up as a mid sized channel, so they can give you guidance on what your experience would be like as you grow.

As a side note, when I talked to them, they made it clear that they specialized in brand deals and not preroll advertising, so if your channel isn't in a position to get brand deals, I'm not sure how much benefit signing with Collective will be.

I guess it depends on what you mean by brand deals. They've recently signed a few small channels like mine. There is lots of room for brand deals in what I do (which is what I've been saying all along). I've recently started working on my own brand deals, but more to get myself some really expensive gear as compensation instead of straight cash. I talked to one of their recruiters today and will talk to a channel manager (or whatever they call it). The contract is 6 months longer than I'd like as well as 10 points less as well. At this point Adsense sucks donkey you know what's so bad I've got nothing to lose. ANYTHING is better than a $1cpm.

I ended up signing with them. I talked to the few people that they have in my genre and they seemed really happy. They are looking to expand more into my genre, they actually told me who they were courting. Pretty interesting. Lots of possible brand deals and they insisted they sell ads against the content. Things can't get any worse than with adsense. One of the guys is they have is smaller, like me, I was floored by what he was pulling down per month, multiples of what I have been making. I tried to negotiate the term down (not that it is horrible) and they wouldn't do it but I was able to negotiate the cut. Did I mention they have phone numbers?
