It could be funny if you do more of a scripted comedy sketch about this fad thats going around. I've noticed you say you don't plan on scaring anyone. So I gather its not you or who ever dressed as a clown and jumping out at people?
If its a spoof about it then it could be a good idea as A: its currently topical at the moment
and B: Its no harm to the public as it will be with just you and friends working on a script or sketch.
If its more invisible theatre where you basically wait for a member of the public to walk round the corner and then you go boo dressed as a clown then no....thats trying to scare them and it's been done to death. Even if you dressed as a zombie or a giant badger.
You could do a sketch where a giant badger jumps out and scares farmers?
They hate badgers don't they? And that also ties in with this whole scaring the public thing in a costume.......
Even better you could dress the giant badger as a clown! lol
