Not really sure what you are asking then. If you like editing for that long, then keep on doing it. We are just stating that your edit times don't reflect the high quality standard you want your videos to be. Just keep on doing it and find your work flow. To each their own right! :)

My overall question of this forum is just to ask people the opinions of my vlogs so I can perhaps continue to make them better. Not workflow and editing efficiency compared to quality analysis haha. I know a few of my youtube friends like EpicFive and BenBrown said they loved the editing and style of the vlogs that it poses something different on youtube for vlogging. But I just wanted more opinions. Before I shoutout my vlog channel from my main channel and a few thousand people check out the vlogs, I kind of want to make sure I'm making them literally perfect.

So you think my edits could be much better? If so what would you recommend? Any possible example on a vlog that I have up that isn't the valentine vlog, perhaps my newest vlog? If you have the time of course to help me for a couple of minutes id appreciate it! As I said before, the valentine vlog is just something I plan on doing once a month as a mini movie type of video, the rest of my videos on my vlog channel represent exactly what videos I will be posting daily would consist of! Thanks once again homie, and i'm right now binging on your videos! :)

I was originally just going to watch your most recent vlog, and maybe the Valentine's one, but decided to watch them all so I had a better picture of what you have going. I don't much like blatant praise, but I don't just want to bring up what I think you can do better. I think you've done pretty good so far, and have a lot of potential to grow, especially since you're already doing things better than a lot of other similarly sized channels. There are some things that stood out to me though.

The first one's just a technical thing, not really style or substance, it's the audio quality. Maybe it's just me or my setup, but it's not always 100%. Sometimes it sounds muffled/unclear, and I think it takes away from the rest of the vlog.

Second thing that I noticed throughout, more so in the first few, is that you don't sound completely comfortable in front of/behind the camera. Sometimes it sounds like you're trying to keep quiet (maybe not to bother other people) and other times it just comes across like you're trying to be entertaining/inspiring, and not just being yourself.

Somewhat unrelated, I think it does have an influence on videos though, but are you stressing out? I know school can be stressful, and work if you have it on top of that, and then trying to produce content, it can stress anybody out. I get the impression, mainly from previous posts in this thread, that you're stressing about the success of your vlog, and maybe putting too much work into them, if it really is a 10-15 hour edit. They're not bad, and I can see the work put into them, but like others have mentioned, I think you can optimize that time better, and get more done in significantly less time.

While I agree, a strong work ethic and big goals are great to have, I think too that if you worry too much about success, and your idea of 'perfection', you might be doing more harm than good.

I feel like I'm rambling and going off topic, but I don't just want to give you some cookie-cutter advice or blind praise. I think you have a lot of potential, but also a lot of room to improve. You're already doing a good job, but don't get caught up comparing yourself to your prank channel, as I think that'll only do harm. Keep putting out good content, always make an effort to improve, and given you've already got a decent sized platform to start out with, I'm sure you'll do quite well.

Hope there was something helpful in this post.

I really appreciate that strong analysis. I know from vlog 1 I could tell myself that I felt a little awkwardish talking to the camera, but I feel like thats totally gone in vlog 7. Though I would agree the bathroom scene was a tad monotone/low voice but I didn't want to be loud in there haha. I'm kind of curious what you mean about audio problems hmm, i'll look into it! I know vlog #1 I put my finger over the audio but I put a subtext on the video saying I did, and haven't done that since. I'll try and improve on those things, and see what I can do :o.... But idk, I think the problem that i'm worrying is comments for example like yours where you say "since you're already doing things better than a lot of other similarly sized channels"... In vlogs, its impossible to gain a big following without being absolutely better than the biggest vloggers, or by being already famous yourself and starting a vlog channel. So for me to be better than similarly sized channels at 1000 subs, I would hope so that I am, or theres something wrong that i'm doing hahah. But idk, I need to figure out what I can do to better improve my channel and make it up to par as big vloggers.

I wish I could leave you some better advice on what to change or improve on, but I just don't know what it takes to go from a good vlog, to a great vlog, you know? The only thing I can think of, that will totally make a difference, is what's happening in your life. I think it's a lot easier to have a successful vlog when you're traveling the world and doing cool s**t, than it is to maintain an interesting vlog when you're in college. I don't know how far along you are, but that's probably going to be a big limiting factor, given how much time you need to devote to school, and how consistently you do it. I think if you keep going from where you are now, and keep building your viewerbase, once you graduate and have the opportunity to go do cool s**t, you'll probably see a big bump.

I graduate in 2 and a half months, so college is more of like season 1 of my vlog show and such. Also its actually kind of interesting you say that, guys who travel a lot like ben brown do actually very bad with views gained monthly compared to Casey who just does his normal routine very day in New York and just once in a while goes to california or something of that sorts. If anything I thought college would be an advantage to do vlogs in because theres no big vlogger who's ever filmed in college. Though I will agree, its all about time management in order to be able to do school work and videos, ect.

And I agree, on the idea of not knowing whats a good vlog compared to a great one. I know many people tell me that they like my vlogs better than some of the big people, but than theres people, especially on this site haha, that say its no where close to that. I feel like my rewind thing I do every vlog, and just the people around me, make the vlogs interesting because they are almost like characters in my show and such. But yeah idk hmmm.

I think Vlog #7 is pretty good, that if I was able to keep the vlogs at that level or better that they would do quite good, but I know there must be something that can continuously make the vlogs better and such.

Fair enough, but don't forget, his routine is pretty out of the ordinary. He owns a successful startup, rides through NYC on the boosted board, almost always has guest appearances of other YouTubers, and makes those little mini-shorts in the studio. Dude's got a routine I envy heavily. I see what you're saying though, and I think if you could capture the college life well too, you'd have a leg up over other vlogs, being that you have that unique setting and routine.

I agree, I think you've steadily improved every video, and look forward to what you do in the future.

Would you actually want me to take pictures or something of all your videos. I said I wanted to make my videos the best, never did I say I was the best lol... And shoot I guess my friends with the millions of subscribers would beg to differ from someone of the likes as yourself who are so quick to jump to conclusions. Rudeness seems to be your strong suite it seems... And I actually liked two of your videos... And I only watched 3 videos.... so calm down lol...

Oh also, when I said I was watching your videos that was literally 10-20 minutes before I posted that comment. So unless your saying your theory of this disliking happened in that time frame than I have absolutely no idea what your talking about.... I'll teach you something, youtube is impossible to grow without being friends with people... Take it by someone who's already done it once with one channel and has some connections that has helped me in the past, just saying.

Maybe, maybe not... However, I still think you had a different agenda when initially posting. We gave you critique and you came back with nothing but reasons, instead of something like "Great advice, I'll think about that & work on it." I feel like you were expecting to get a bunch of praise and everyone saying "Yes, you are awesome at vlogging and I'm subbing right now!".

That didn't happen, and instead of taking the comments and putting them to good use to better your channel, you instead don't like the results of the thread and want it deleted.

That's all I'm saying. No hate, not being mean. Just stating that's not taking constructive criticism well....

To almost every reply I did, I said that I appreciate the feedback... Even to yours and I quote "I appreciate the comment homie! Yeah I don't know, editing to me is like watching TV for some people."

And ehmaysi that commented above 3 times gave me awesome ideas and explanations that didn't just all stem off of worrying about how much I want to work haha so I'm actually putting him into one of my vlogs... As for not "taking" the comments given to me here to make my channel better, I know that lessening the editing hours of my edits won't make my vlogs better haha.

Oh and also to add. I deleted the thread because I got all the answers I needed by Ehmaysi above. I particularly remember why I left this forum over 2 years ago, and lets just say it was a lot nicer then, and I still left. And yes I didn't like the results of the thread, the results of me hearing about how people don't think I should edit longer than they would, or how I shouldn't work harder than some peoples work ethic. But I guess thats why some people make it on youtube, and some people stay at 1000 subscribers for years.
