Cheap External Monitor?

Hi guys,

The camera I use right now for my vlogs is a Canon Rebel T3. It doesn't have a flip monitor, so I can't see myself and have to jump through all sorts of hoops to be sure I'm in-focus when I record. Sometimes, I'm still not in focus... which is really unfortunate because that means a lot of the times, my best takes are unspeakably blurry.

So, any cheap external monitor ideas? Originally, the camera came with a software that would allow me to turn my computer monitor into an external monitor for my camera. Now, it says that "no camera is found" so I can't use it anymore... so I'll need a suggestion other than this.

Th cheapest way to get an external monitor is an old PC monitor with HDMI. BUT, if you want to get something a little more professional, the Lilliput 665 is a great little field monitor with HDMI input for around the £150 mark. We're looking to get one of these for our next film.

I have an app on my tablet (DSLR Controller) that allows me to connect it to my Canon DSLR.

It's kind of buggy sometimes, but it's still in beta.

Ah damn, sorry, I was going to suggest the Canon software, but since it doesn't work for you anymore, I can't really help :( I've actually been looking myself for a relatively affordable monitor, but no luck. It's made trickier because I've read that several monitors have trouble getting full compatibility out of Canon DSLRs. I'll have a hunt around and if I find anything, I'll let you know! :)

That is very helpful, thank you :)
