Channel views...

I haven't noticed the channel views. Our Trailer keeps gaining more and more views though so I have no idea what is going on.

Channel views are absolutely screwed up. Check this image out and try to guess which day I switched over to the new layout...

I'm happy it's working out for you. :) I've been debating if it's even worth doing a trailer if I feel like no one is visiting my channel.

I must must get a crap-ton of visitors, because my channel views have been going up steadily. day by day. Maybe the odd day my views will freeze on me, but they will go up the next day.

Alright, I had not gotten but 4 channel views since I switched over to the new layout. So I switched back for 1/2 a day to see what would happen. I got 54 channel views.

So I have a few questions:
  • Why are people finding the channels the old layout but not the new layout?
  • Are they finding the new channel but aren't watching the trailer video on that page?
  • Can you even watch the trailer video in the regular video section?
  • Are they not watching because the viewer is too small on the channel page?

Your last question about the player being too small is why you're not getting any channel views. People are watching videos from the video watch page instead of the channel page due to the smaller size and it won't register as a channel view when that happens.
People are still visiting your channel page-it's just much harder to tell that they are. You should ask people who have their trailer on unlisted how many views they have on the trailer and compare that to channel page views. You won't see any correlation at all.

Our channel page views are down to 76 per day. We used to average over 5000 per day and our overall view count has gone up from 50k to about 70k per day. We also get several hundred more views per day than usual on every video you can see "above the fold" (without having to scroll) on our channel page, so it's very clear that people are finding our channel page-but they're not watching stuff from there. I personally don't feel the need to put out a trailer since I'd rather have them watch an actual video of what they would normally see instead of a highlight reel. Our daily sub level has nearly doubled since switching to the new layout, so the lack of a trailer has not hurt us in any way. If you're doing well, there's no reason to mess the formula.
