Channel Username vs. Real Name

I'm curious to know who prefers a channel with an actual username like "SmoothieFreak" or "TwoWorlds" or things like that vs. an actual name as your channel like "Kristopher London" or "Jaclyn Hill" and things like that. Right now, my channel name is a username, but I'm thinking about changing it to an actual name (I'm going to use a different last name though) that's easy to remember. What do you all think? What do you prefer?

Moved this here for you :) Personally like the fake names :D I don't know...it gives you room to be whatever you want and creative as well. Not that I'm opposed to real names....just my preference.

I prefer using a fake name as you can choose one suited to your content if you want. Though I don't see why you couldn't use your real name, unless you have a boring one like 'John Smith'. Apologies if that is anybody's real name here!

I am bond......... Ben Bond. (Is that a good fake name?) I was also contemplating. Anthony Isahdurp sounds good, yes? @JeriKane

Anthony Isahdurp
I hate you.

I like fake/usernames more. Not that I'm trying to hide anything myself. A lot of people know my real name is Anthony. It's just cooler to me when people create something different from their own name.

I usually don't care which someone uses. Its an online identity in the end, I use a username because my last name is too complicated to pronounce. Plus its easier to swear and be outrageous when your "someone else". Where as a real name just seems too personal to do that with.

How about Anthony Picklefingers @JeriKane ?

I use my real name, but I have been thinking lately that I probably should have made up a username. I have plans for an ever expanding brand not just on YouTube , but into other "businesses" as well, and using my real name will probably cut that short

I have no preference. I am subscribed to a fair few people who use fake names and made-up names. I am also subscribed to a couple who I believe use their real name. It depends on you as a person, and what you are comfortable with. I associated my real name with my channel because I am going to be vlogging and want to connect with people personally, but I can totally understand why others would want to create a persona or use a different name for their channel.

I think a good idea is to mix the two together really!
Try to mix in your channel audience/content with your name!
