Channel spamming copied thumbnails & descriptions through Alt accounts using playlists

Hi all,

Needing some advice on the below situation. I've reported several of the offending channels to YouTube over a week ago but still no action.

Situation:
So channel "Rainbow Kids" is getting views to their videos through the use of alternative channels that have hundreds of playlists each. Both the titles of the playlists are direct copies from very popular videos and the thumbnail is also a copy from very popular videos - the thumbnail and description don't match is most cases.

Then the 1st video in the playlist is a very very very popular video, and then the following 7 videos in the playlist are from "Rainbow Kids".

I discovered this when i did a search on my channel "AussieJoshie" to find results using my video titles but not my video or thumbnail.

It's such a scam, but it's taking YouTube what appears too long to investigate.

Anyone have experience reporting something to YouTube ? and how long did they take to respond/take action?

Thanks all.
Sonia, Troy & Joshie :)

Youtube has a system....

It meens that it'll take a long time before youtube even notices that you filed a report. They're usually faster with video reporting than with channels. They'll have to look through their channel. If you want them gone quick, you should just report a video from that channel... But why do you want this channel to be taken down, it seems that you have the same type of content. Don't want to be a hater buuuuut... [says something hateful]

We told some friends about our channel.
They did a search and got dozens of results - all on the 1st few pages - that have nothing to do with our channel, videos, thumbnails etc.
They are stealing our and many many other channels hard work to divert traffic to their videos. They are stealing from so many other peoples channels using this method.
We'd have no issues if they used their own thumbnails or titles - but they are using others work.

theres always an exploit somewhere int he system, this is just another of those...
i would try tweeting/emailing youtube directly about the issue, they may have to change the system to fix something like this

Generally, YouTube takes down a video after it's been flagged or reported a couple of times. If your directly own the videos, I suggest a Copyright strike would do better than anything really since you legally own the content you made. If this is the case, a copyright strike can prevent him or she to be in good standings or to even post videos using his or her YouTube channels.

However, it appears what I'm seeing is that this person has multiple YouTube channels all together to fudge your content over. YouTube dosn't have a filter for 'similar thumbnails' or 'similar videos' unfortunately, but they are working on it. And lately there are videos that require something more information while using other people's videos.

For instance, LeafyisHere was required to have permission from one person at one time due to a copyright infringement in which the video actually was taken down to prevent him from being in 'good standings'

In my honest opinion, this person will soon run out of time or whatever they are doing to ruin other people's hard work and move on to something that interests them a bit more. Think of it like bullying, you ignore it long enough they'll eventually stop. If it continues at an even more alarming result, then I'd consider reporting it, but for little things like this just rely on your loyal fans, I highly doubt they can't tell tell the difference between the real you and some poser.

Thanks Taylor - great response and advice.

Scumminess aside...that was pretty smart of them, lol

lol - I know right. When we first noticed it, we thought how cool that someone was adding our videos to their playlists - but when our search results were overrun by the playlists and we looked into it and found there was nothing at all relating to our channel in those playlists - we thought those scammy little ratbags - what cheeky buggers.

A little confused. They made a playlist with your video (or any that weren't theirs) and the next ones are all there's so one click gets them lots of views but it's because the viewer started with you? That's not right but I guess it's allowed because it's being done

No, not exactly.
They made a playlist and called it the name of one of my videos.
The thumbnail for the playlist is unrelated to the content or to the title of the playlist.
Usually, the 1st video is a really popular video - not necessary mine - just a major video in the category.
The rest of the videos are the spammers/scammers.
They are hoping people go searching for legitimate content - get hit with results of one of their playlists - click the playlist and end up on their own videos.

To see it in action - search "AussieJoshie" - you will get lots of playlists - mostly named "AussieJoshie at the beach with his dump truck"etc etc - the thumbnail could be from the popular video of Ryan's Toysreview - the 1st video in the playlist could be any other really popular video - then there will be a bunch of videos from the spammer. There are are heap of these playlists. If they included my video in the playlist at least that would be ok - but they steal the title and thumbnails of others only.

It means all the hard work and marketing that the legitimate channels are doing are being overshadowed by the dodgy playlists which there are tens of thousands of because the are bot created.
:(
