Channel or Channels? Advice Needed! :)

Hey Peeps :)

Right, I currently run a gaming channel & will be running a separate Vlog channel in the future. The problem I need advice on is the gaming side of things. See, I have a passion for a very wide variety of games including: Shooters, Football, Minecraft, Wrestling, Indie Games, Pokemon... etc.

My gaming channel right now mainly focuses on COD & GTA but I really want to start making videos of the other games that I love. I'm just wondering if it's a good idea or not to have all these different games on one channel as they have a lot of different audiences. For example, a person who might enjoy my Pokemon videos might not like my Call of Duty videos and this may lead them to unsubscribe... etc.

So I guess my question is... Do you think I should just go ahead and have all my favourite games on one channel or should I have seperate channels for games that have very specific audiences such as Football games, Pokemon & Wrestling.

Thanks in advance! :)

I don't see a problem with it. My channel is a large variety of game (ive played COD and other FPS, The Sims, survival games like Stranded Deep, war games like This War of Mine, random flash games etc.)

The way I see it is if you only stick to 1 type of game and build a community off that, you'll never be able to change. If that game gets old or you get sick of it, you're just waiting to sink. If people join the community because they like you more than the games you play, they'll stick around no matter what. You just need to stay consistent in putting up a little of something for everyone regularly (I never upload 2 of the same games twice in a row).

The key, which i learned from jacksepticeye, who has more subs than most of us can dream of, is to just vary, your content. whatever your schedule is, never upload the same thing twice in a row. by playing, say 4 different games at one on a channel, and uploading them all in a cycle, you keep all 4 fanbases interested and watching. If people start to get tired of a series, you switch it out for something similar, but different enough to spice things up.. if youre not having fun playing it, theyre not having fun watching it. And by having all your fans returning to one channel, you keep things simple and maximixe sub count.

Great points guys! Thanks a lot. I was planning on just going the single gaming channel route but I just wanted to ask in case anyone said it was a bad idea. Haha. :)

Personally, I think if you have multiple channels for different games it can get quite confusing for both you and the viewer. Maybe two different channels isn't too bad, but you might end up uploading a video to the wrong channel and having to start over. I think you should keep it all on one channel but have different videos for different days of the week. So Monday could be Pokémon day and Tuesday football games etc. Then people know when to expect a specific video from you. :)

Just do what you want. I would prefer to have subscribers come back to my channel even if I do videos for games they might not like. I personally do a variety of videos (trying to lean towards scripted stuff) and I want to keep everything centralized and in one channel. I just use playlists to separate it all. AVGN does that as well. He has several different kinds of content that could really be split up into different channels. But he keeps it all together.
