Channel name/username - help!

I came up with a name that I think suits me more but a friend says it sounds weird and better if I say it the other way. So why not ask actual content creators to see.

• The name I came up with was "WolfWraith/WolfWraithGames" This 1 is not in use at all anywhere that I can see so far.

• The name he suggest was "WraithWolf/WraithWolfGames" this 1 is used in a lot of other places from what I could see in the google searches, so I want to void it.

Which 1 do you guys think is better? I've already reserved both URLs as well xD I mean either way around they kind of mean the same thing but I like the first 1 a little more for some reason.

Quick-ish explination of the origins: After a lot of brainstorming I ended up with a name I liked that wasn't in use from what I could see at all. Every other name I had come up with was taken and/or already a brand or uses elsewhere. I like wolves and generally use the word "wolf" in nearly every character I make in games. I like the word wraith as well cause it sounds cool (the ghost like wraiths look badass too) but can also mean spirit, ghost etc... I decided to make a new channel where I can post videos under a pseudonym as opposed to like a company style thing i.e. "Andrew's Gaming World". I feel WolfWraith is also easier for me to brand as gaming world was a little too ambiguous when it comes to logos and such.

I know right? Like they both sound good but I felt that WolfWraith was more like saying "Wolf Spirit" vs "Spirit Wolf", you know? Like if I say "It's a Wolf Wraith" then "It's a Wraith Wolf" the first sounds better lol and sort of makes more sense.

What's wrong with your current name? I don't know that a channel's name has ever turned me off from subscribing. Besides, why throw away the work you've put into your current channel for the sake of a name change? Are you also changing direction of your channel? If not, I guess I'd recommend just sticking with your current name unless you absolutely hate it.

...or just ignore me! If you don't like what I'm saying, pretend I'm talking to myself.

In a way yes. When I came up with the original name (AGW) the channel was more about being like a hub type thing. A place where it was about letting people into my gaming world and remembering gaming moments with friends, I needed it to be ambiguous at the time to give it more of an open and welcoming feeling. Unfortunately due to starting the channel late in my life, a lot of those memories can no longer be made as most of my friends in real life who I used to game with have busy lives or just don't talk anymore. Posting under the name "Andrew's Gaming World" was also a little corny-ish and not too well thoughtout and was like posting under a company type name when I was a single person. It's like trying to be a person and posting as a person while having the name EB Games? Sometimes a channel name can also effect whether a video is clicked on or not, not by SO much, like I've definitely had my fair share of views but over time the channel started to represent the name less and less, if that makes sense? So I figured it was time for a change, to find a name that was way more me, less ambiguous, a little more creative and a little more attractive. A name that's easier to brand and even trademark later on. The old channel will be in use for any current series I'm running on it, but all that work I've put in I can just tell people to sub to my new channel. I should also point out that the pseudonym I don in conjunction with the channel is "AndrewReviewYou" again something not thought out too well, that was something I was okay with as it wasn't the name that would be in use on the channel since the Google+ intergration. With the new name I can still represent my old vision for the old channel but this time I have more room and leniency to stray from that vision and into any other visions I might have for the future channel.

But if I'm going to start fresh, I need to make sure I at least get the channel name right in a way that works with people. I originally had the idea of using the name "NewGamePlus" the meaning behind that was because I'm not starting a 'new game' persay but I'm starting a new game with all the knowledge I've learnt from the old channel and with some loyal viewers to help me with the new 1. Like having all the skills, stats and weapons or whatever when you completed a game but using them to play a new game Sadly that name was taken, which was expected lol

No worries, I can understand why some people would see the change as unnecessary, I have put so much work into AGW, into the videos and into building it as something that represents me and is marketable, so it's not an easy thing for me to make the change. I also chose the name WolfWraith with the expectation that some people would like it and some wouldn't. But as for the ambigious part, that's why I might be keeping the games part on the end like "WolfWraithGames" but the AndrewReviewYou part came about partially because the channel was meant to be about doing reviews as well, which it was for the small part but eventually it became way too much work, I have a very strict standard on what I need to cover in a review so some reviews never got done. It's more about using a gamertag in a way, which is how a lot of the more successful YouTubers came about, most of them just used their gamertags, others came up with newer 1s or combinations or other things. Like if I hop into a game I'm not going to use the gamertag "Andrew's Gaming World" or "Andrew" I'm gonna use what I normally do which is something with wolf in it (normally LoneWolfNo1) and at the sametime I'm factoring in similarities to other YouTubers. Like the more solo sucessful channels like PewDiePie, Markiplier, SeaNanners, StoneMountain64 (stonemountain is the guys surname pronounced in english, how FREAKING cool is that?!) etc... they all go under a single pseudonym that represents them and their channel as a single person, which is what I am: 1 person. Stuff like The Game Grumps or TinyLunchboxGamers for example are run by groups or multiple people but leaves enough room for that solo essence and they have their own pseudonyms within those gaming groups, it's good as it distinguishes that 1 type of channel will include a lot of solo stuff but can be open to collabs and the 1 a lot of group type stuff. With Andrew's Gaming World I expect multiple people but I also expect more than just let's plays, I expect to be let into someone's life and that for me wasn't happening as well as I wanted it to. I dunno, it's just the way I feel. It also feels weird in a way having people call me Andrew, it's very dull in a sense and doesn't really suggest creativity or anything amazing.

Then you have to factor in something else, if people just refer to me as Andrew, I mean, that's not really a good thing on YouTube because there's god knows how many Andrews out there. If I have something a little more unique on the other hand it creates a brand in itself. Like if I said PewDiePie did this and that, easily regardless of whether I'm talking about YouTube or not most people will know, there really is only 1 PewDiePie not just on YouTube but the internet even. Even Cryaotic; people just refer to him as Cry, everyone knows who Cry is xD Minx was on Krism's stream earlier today explaining how she wished her channel name and such was just "Minx". But it's not an issue because everyone knows her as Minx anyways and there isn't really anyone I know or would call Minx on YouTube, to me MangaMinx is Minx. This is also what I'm factoring into the name change. During my time in gaming online most of the time people just refered to me as Wolf only because it was shorter than saying my whole name but it feels nicer being under a pseudonym. There's bound ot be a lot of people who go by just the name Wolf on YouTube but at least WolfWraith sounds cooler than AndrewReviewYou, in a way AndrewReviewYou can suggest that I review a lot of things or soley do reviews. WolfWraith suggests more.

I like the name "Hey Gay" because as you said it definitely suggests what to expect but it has multiple meanings too, like the word gay means happy so it's like I'd expect a person who's open about their gender orientation and this can be very appealing to the LGBT community and anyone else who supports/isn't against that kind of thing.

The name game is probably 1 of the hardest parts before starting a channel because it's something you need to plan for future use without knowing how far it will take you. Like I don't think PewDiePie ever expected his name would actually become a trademarked brand.
