Channel Feedback

YTtalk Mad
Hey YTtalk.

We've been at this now for a little over a week. I am looking for feedback on ways to improve the channel, our videos, and to improve the way we attract an audience.

Note: we're actually thrilled with views this early. Our first upload had 4 views the first day; yesterday's had over 50.

Here are some of my observations, but would like others opinions.

Editing: still has room for improvement (audio consistency as one example)
Camera: we need to invest in an actual camera, the IPhone's only work well in some situations

Thank you all.

So I just took a look at Vlog #11. I am going to be honest with you, in order to help you and give you feedback you can use since you are seeking it.
First of all, nothing much really happened in it. It didn't really keep my attention and make me want to keep on watching (I did watch it all, so I can provide feedback). Before starting my own vlogs I ask myself:
- What is the purpose of this vlog?
- Why am I making a vlog today?
- What is special about today when compared to any other day I have?

From this I will then construct a vlog around those concepts. I do not upload daily vlogs. Daily vlogs (unless you are someone like Casey Neistat) will drag down the quality of your content because the reality is, some days will be boring but other days will not. For vlogs, you want to focus on the other days.
Something I plan to start doing for vlogging now is recording throughout the week then selecting the best footage to create a 'montage' or 'compilation' vlog for that week. Meaning I can focus on the interesting stuff and leave out the boring stuff.

In terms of the video production side of things, try to:
- Invest in an external microphone for better audio quality
- Invest in a camcorder or 'vlogging' camera (I use the Canon HF R506)
- Start browsing youtube for editing videos, to learn to edit with the software you use. Post production plays a huge role in how a video looks and, more importantly, how a video feels. Learn to balance contrast, learn to colour grade, learn to white balance and so on.

Hey, thanks for the feedback. Really appreciate it. Will certainly work on these points.[DOUBLEPOST=1475351175,1475350973][/DOUBLEPOST]Agree on Vlog #11 not really having anything happen. I thought about not publishing yesterday, but decided to put something out even if its only a few minutes for the sake of improving. Awesome points though on editing videos. Will look these up. Any suggestions on specific people I should look for? I use IMovie presently.

I have found that if you want to learn something, identify what it is you want to learn then watch multiple tutorials on how to do that with your software.
For example, lets assume you want to learn to colour grade with iMovie - simply search youtube for iMovie colour grading tutorials. Been making videos since 2012 and I have been self taught up until last year when I starting attending a media course.

Certainly not viewed that way. Creeping around a topic never helps anyone.

Never have truer words been spoken my friend! If you are needing any help with anything, don't hesitate to shoot me a PM and i'll gladly help you with what I can :D

Greatly appreciated. I will take you up on that one.
