Channel Fan Pages

I'm a pretty small channel still and I have a Facebook Fan Page lol. Granted it only has 70 something likes, I have had posts on there that have been shared up to 36 times and had 6,000 imprints because it got shared so much.

It's also a way to connect to other Facebook pages and cross promote too or to reach out to audiences. I also do photography for events so it's nice to have a place to post photos and videos for my audience to see. Some people only comment on Facebook too and don't have a YouTube account.

Lastly, it's like you said, it's just a nice place to post small updates and interaction without the clutter that is twitter.

Some really good points, I'll try out making a Facebook fanpage. :)

I agree with all of the above. Social network sites are great for promotion but I think the most important is to interact with the fans. Even though Im small time, I get great interaction with my fans, especially my hardcore ones and Ive seen by interacting with them, they always want to promote my stuff more it seems.

....yes  haha. But mainly to post updates easier and also articles/pictures that I think may also be interesting for people to see on their newsfeed. I don't just want it to promote my channel.
It's always worth if you put positive energy on it,so do it,don't ever ask permission for something you would like to do :) (i hope terrorists never read this xD)

I've got one even though I've only got 16 subs but it's mainly because I'm a musician so if I play gigs or what-not people will be able to find me on Facebook. I think the majority would search on there for a musician as opposed to on Youtube.

One thing about Facebook pages, once you get over a certain amount of likes, you have to pay in order for your posts to reach everyone that liked your page... I think it's something like 1,000. So you don't want a ton of people that like your page, but don't actually look at your posts.

A lot of people don't know this, for some reason, but Facebook will actually prompt you and say, "You have to pay $5 for this post to reach your entire fan base"

Even with my 70 something likes, when I post an update, sometimes only 20-30 see it. I like the Facebook analytics a lot actually, their insights are really cool.
