Changing my YouTube name

I'm looking to change my username because the name doesn't reflect what my channel is any more.

I chose "Allthingsmundane" as the original idea for my channel was to film simple things that people could use as "stock footage"

I've stopped doing those kinds of videos now and have moved on to do my own ideas/skits/etc.

So has anyone else changed their username?
Or anyone want to give me some ideas on what I can change mine too?

I played around with Google + and changed my username a bit, but I switched it back to the original because I didn't like how it didn't match the url. So if someone would search for the name I switched it to (my real name), they wouldn't find my channel.
 
I wouldn't change mine to be honest, but if you feel that it's the right thing to do then go ahead but choose carefully why not make up a few names and hold a voting thing here ? :)
 
Sorry, legacy youtube accounts(original logins) can't have url changed.

As other have said, you might have to end up creating a new account then try to find a more suitable channel. Other than that, google+ is the best way to go for changing names.

I know it's frustrating because I have a 2006 made when I was younger, and the name would seem quite dumb today. I'm surprised google has not released all the inactive channel names. Even the decent names are taken.

(I think the blonde hair dye has seeped into my brain!)

The name that you've chosen through google+ shows up everywhere because it's linked to your Youtube account. So if you commented or something, people will see that name. The only exception where your name does not change is the actual channel url that shows up when people click on your name. If you're worried about your channel not showing up in search, try to put in some keywords through channel settings. Hope that makes sense lol.
 
So if I want to change my YouTube name I have to link it with my Google+ account? And can it get me any trouble for using a wrong name on Google+? I have heard of people getting into trouble for using wrong names in the YouTube registration. (He used Gordon Freeman or something and got banned)
