Changing content on my channel

Ok so i just hit 100 subs and I told myself that i would like to incorporate other things into my youtube channel. Right now I do gaming on my channel. I want to start doing stuff like challenges, vlogs, reactions, skits. Do you think this is a smart thing to do?

You can, but careful not expanding too quickly. Subs might not be interested in X content. Also, vlogging, gaming etc aren't niches, niches are things that are a bit obscure. ie, how to bring up your giant rabbit

How do they relate to your primary content? I am a cooking channel, for example. And, over the next year, I plan to make some content about growing herbs and some indoor veg, which will link nicely into cooking because they are ingredients. I am also thinking of exploring preserving techniques too since I'll have fresh produce, but again this is highly related to my primary topic.

It seems like you are trying to check all the bases, rather than expand logically from your core content.

I'm not saying that this is a bad thing necessarily. On my channel, I don't think people are watching for me but rather they are there for the things I do. If YOU are the draw for your channel, I guess it will matter less.

I love your profile picture, wolves are my favorite animals! I think it depends on what all your content is, also nich is a word that a lot of content creators misinterprete its meaning gaming isn’t a nich. On my channel I do comedy videos and haul videos a lot of my so called skits and comedy have to do with the way dress I poke fun the term emo that everyone calls me since I shop at hot topic listen to emo bands etc and I a lot of my skits have to do with the band I listen and memes. I also do clothing haul videos but again it has to do with my alternative look. Some of the comedy videos I do don’t have anything do with me being alternative but it’s falls under the category of comedy. I also did a few makeup tutorials like how to look like certain band members. A lot of my so called comedy videos and hauls have to do with today’s pop culture and what’s trending, so it kinda of all ties together on my channel.

yeah like my channel is basically basketball gaming (NBA 2K18). I was thinking about doing videos related to basketball.

I don't think it's a good idea at your channel size to do different types of videos that are totally unrelated, but if you could somehow incorporate gaming into the other videos that should be fine. It's also totally fine to experiment though, I'd recommend just trying one thing at a time though. You basically just don't want your channel to look too random, it should jump out at your target audience and feel like the perfect fit for them.

BetheWolf, Coliwob has made a really good point.

Don't make expand and make content illogically without any connection with your original content.

You can slowly change the content of your channel, by maybe introducing a vlog that explains how you create your gaming videos or your thoughts/reviews on games/aspects of games. Then you can start incorporating things from your daily life. So there's a logical progression and it isnt a big shock to your subs/viewers and they don't feel abandoned by a sudden change in content.

If you feel you can't link the new content with the old, just start a new channel and link them together.
