Challenges youtubers face when selecting music for videos

Hmmm... maybe check again. I went to the YT music page to see if I was mistaken. I scrolled to the bottom and and new set of songs came up, I scrolled again, new set came up.... I kept doing this for a few minutes seeing if I could come to the end of the selections and ran out of patience before I ran out of songs : )
Well I'm currently working a lot with them and there aren't many, let alone many worth anything. I mean they seriously could've done much better but at least they have those. The thing that's really a shame, say if you upload a video and it gets a copyright detection for the soundtrack, that you can't then select one of your own tracks from the computer hard drive. You HAVE to either mute or pick of theirs, and again it's fairly limited.

I don't know about anybody else, but I use TubeBuddy and they have a free sign up for Audio Hero. I generally use that (if I'm using music) and put that in the description. I have a gaming channel, so it's not really a concern for me.

Some time ago out of the blue, some old videos of mine had some random company claiming rights to the songs.

I've to better start using Audio Hero to avoid these BS.

and the audio type copyrights can be a real pain too. I tried 'erasing' the copyright tracks and replacing them with some of their terribly mediocre tracks, repeatedly, and the copyright notification still remained. I've had to 'file disputes' to get rid of some. There's now literally O% of their copyrighted song playing, and they're still monetizing lol. Amazing.

The biggest one for me is that, as I'm making a video, I get an idea for a joke that involves music but I can't use it as it may lead to a copyright strike (even if the bit is couple of seconds long). Also, as I'm making a video, I can easily get this melody that would be just perfect for the video, but yeah, again, copyright.
I mean, copyright's fine, it is just annoying that I have to find the alternatives in the Audio Library - there are amazing tunes in there, but it takes a bit of a searching.

Im always able to find something suitable within the YouTube library. That way I feel like I will never have any problem in future.

well you're easy going I'd say. If your video is shorter than 3:30min, you're good, you're covered. If your video is around 6-7min, that's a narrow choice now. If your video is; as most videos on YT these days ?; around the 8min mark, you're lookin at a couple of songs tops, and if it's over that duration, it's a bunch of "ambient" beatless tracks that just drone on forever and will make your audience fall asleep no doubt.

You can't even repeat a track. Say you got a nice punchy dynamic rock track from their batch that's 3min long, you can't even loop it twice in the video. Video Editor is a bit of a joke tbh,

My videos tend to be over 10 minutes and I will use between 3-5 songs per video. Rarely do I get a complaint about the background music.

That's good news to read actually as I've just swapped the background music to a bunch of vids with the YT stuff. Although I'm not completely reassured as you used the word "Rarely" :p

So maybe 1 in every 50 comments is about my 'poor taste' in music. I dont mind as its an engagement.
