Caring for your fans... Ads or no Ads

I feel like it depends on a few things.1. Do you have 100k subs and make a living off of your YT channel? Ads are a given. If you have that many subs, you probably put a TON of time into your stuff.2. Do you have a very small channel and trying to get more subs/viewers? You're at the bottom of the heap and trying to move up. No point in annoying people with ads.3. My own situation, we just topped 700 subs in the last few days. I don't think that's really anything but, we put around 60 to 90 hours into EACH episode of our web series. So what I do is put all the ads on it except for the non-skippable ads at the beginning. I don't use those anywhere on my channel. So for us, two out of the four of us are doing this full time and fully intend to make something career wise out of film. We're starting our own advertising campaign outside of YT and submitting stuff to people that are connected in the film/tv industry. I feel like we should acclimate viewers to the small ads right now.
I can agree with all of those and is pretty much my opinion summed up into three points. The nonskippables are a pain to me for those who dont have a strong subbase to actually sit through it.[DOUBLEPOST=1368248356,1368248109][/DOUBLEPOST]
Again people focus too much on the AD vs NO AD part, put the text ads on every video and leave it alone, nobody cares if they see the text come up from the bottom of the video, the instream earn more but those can cause new viewers to walk away, those are a personal decision, focus should be on quality content not weather to monetize or not, I learned this lesson in one of my youtube channels, I didn't monetize a video it somehow became related to a viral video gained 400,000 views and by the time I applied for monetization It was pretty much dead
Well the focus is always on content and its not really about the text based ad those are perfectly acceptableThe discussion is really based on small channels with instream ads on all the videos.

I don't like ANYTHING to pop up on a video I'm watching. I don't like annotations either. Thankfully I'm in the minority. Point is, there ARE people that dislike all of that stuff. I try to keep my annotations tasteful and out of the way on videos that appeal to an older crowd. On my gaming stuff, I display them prominently because they draw a younger crowd that's used to that stuff all over the internet.

I still think it just depends on your subs/fanbase, what kind of videos you put up and what market they appeal to.

A viral video that gets 400k hits isn't gonna make you rich or anything. I still say it's not worth it to monetize stuff if you have 10 subs or something.

When I was asked to join a network I was told that I would get instant ads on my videos. My response was "not right now because I dont have a strong subscriber base behind me and I dont want to alienate the few that I do have with a bunch of ad laced videos."

I dont like alot of small channels with few subs placing ads on all their videos because if I sit there and watch an ad I want the video to be worth it.

My promised to my self was that I will not put ads on my vids until I hit 5,ooo subs unless it is a video that goes viral. yea I know that the money doesnt start coming in until the ad gets approved to be placed but thats okay. I care about the viewers I have more than I care about the money right now anyway.

My question to all of you is Do you think your subscribers would care if you have ads on all your vids?
Whats your opinion on the subject?
im not sure i dont put ads on my videos because 1. they annoy the hell outta me and 2. i used my real age so even if i wanted to monetize not old enough yet and 3. im not going to monetize my vids on youtube until i can make enough to actually benefit probably around 50k subs or so.The money i earn from youtube eventually is going towards my equipment to make my videos better and better over time.

Thats pretty much how I see it as well. I actually have all the equipment u need I just have to pay off my truck so I can start doing youtube full time since I do little to know advertising and promoting what so ever.
