Does this happen to you? I will edit my video and be quite happy with it. Instead of exporting, though, I watch it like five more times looking for other tiny things to change. It becomes obsessive rather than productive. Cut the cord, David!
 
I get that really bad sometimes, I after finishing an edit, will decide to add pictures to do with what we are talking about, or I will spend the whole night making subtitles in a stylish way, or making a cut far too complex, I feel you man :P
 
It helped me to set a schedule. That way I am forced to upload at least something. If I make mistakes or have new ideas I try to improve my future videos upon that base.
 
Nope, that is being professional. I can't count the times that I found something wrong after the final encode. I'd rather go back and rewatch my stuff a few times than have a subscriber go "Why is ther 5 seconds of nothing right in the middle of the video?"
 
I don't have the patience for it, haha. I go through it once while editing then, for art videos, watch it once and usually deem it good enough. For any other video, I just go straight to uploading it xD #bestYTber
 
If there is something I found wrong after rendering and uploading it (not published). I'll go back and fix it. If it's finding little things to add to make it better... after 5 hours of editing straight sometimes I just want to call it a night XD. Of course with higher value content I can see people taking weeks to complete it.
 
I try to get my videos the best I possibly can, and because I have a bi-weekly uploading schedule now, and I usually get the video done before it's scheduled to upload, and I can take more time after I pretty much finished it to refine it more. (Not to mention I can put it as unlisted, send it to a friend and ask for a critique.) But, yeah, I spend a lot of time editing.
