Can't reply to some people's comments

Has anyone ever noticed some comments in videos that you can't reply to? I'm not talking about the really old comments before the new comment system but sometimes people comment on my video or someone else's video and I want to reply but there's no reply button on their comment. Does anyone know why it does that?
 
I have this problem too, it's really annoying not being able to respond to peoples comments :(
 
Yeah, that annoys me to death. I guess it has to do something with their Google+ settings or whatever. Fortunately, I'm getting lesser of those now.

Didn't notice that, but then I do get that many comments that i'd notice. Doesn't really surprise me that it is happening though with google's current comment system...

i don't know there are loads of bugs on youtube. maybe we will know soon.
 
I hate this so much - makes me feel terrible that I can't directly comment back. :\ I think it's mostly people who haven't set up the Google+ integration... but I'm sure I'm wrong.
 
I believe they are older comments, before the Google+ integration. I had this problem a lot in the early days of the new comments, but not too much anymore.
 
Some are older comments but YouTube also implemented the ability to allow users to select an option to prevent people from replying to their comments, at somepoint. I'm not sure if the feature is still there or not.
