Can't Compete With the Big YouTubers?

I am going down the gaming route, which is probably one of the biggest areas of YouTube with at least two people having over 10 million subscribers, but does this worry me, not really. I understand that I will never get that big, or not in the next few years anyway. As long as I have a small group following me, enjoying my content, I am happy.

To be honest, YouTube is more for me. I am not really a confident person in real life, but behind a computer my friends can see that I am a completely different person. Watching and making my own videos has really boosted my confidence and I am starting to feel much more relaxed at school, and I don't have to worry about what I am saying.

Ya commentating has made me a lot more confident as well. That said, I was already what some would call "overconfident" or "egotistical" lol, so that may not be a good thing ;)

Wow, that's crazy! I'm guessing one of them is PewDiePie? Who's the other? the only channel I can think of that might have more subscribers than PDP is Smosh, but I wasn't aware they did gaming videos.

I'm sorry, I don't have the internet connection to support online gaming, so I'm a very casual gamer lol. Don't pay much attention to the gaming world.

Oh yeah. Derp. I keep on thinking smosh is gaming, but they have a separate channel for that.

Smosh has a gaming channel with like 5 million subs. PewDiePie is the only gamer over 10,000,00 on his gaming channel.
 
Those are some seriously impressive numbers lol. The only PDP video I've watched is Vanish or something like that. Tbh I thought it was really funny! But I haven't had a look at any others. If he has those stats... he must be good lol!
 
If you carry yourself like the real deal, if you can deliver, you will grow and be treated like a big deal. If your content is good enough to go viral, it will eventually go viral. You do have to promote yourself blah blah blah but yeah, other people having success doesn't prevent me or you from getting our own.
 
Guys I'm not saying big YouTubers are preventing me from having success! I've got no interest in that because I know it's impossible - my query was what it's like for other genres because I'm not involved in these, so I don't know quite how busy these areas are.
