Canon 700D quick question

I've Got It
Hi guys,

So I got myself a nice Canon 700D recently and have been using it to record a few videos for my channel. Unfortunately whenever I watch them (at least on my pc) they appear to be a little bit... laggy/jerky/choppy (at least for the first 20 or so seconds) and I'm not sure why. Does anyone have any good knowledge about the 700D (or recording videos in general!) that could be of any help?

I don't know much about the camera settings (although yes, I have read the manual!) but google has mentioned a lot about shutter speed etc. but any advice would be fantastic!

Thanks guys!

Simply could be your computer not being powerful enough to playback raw footage. It happens, what're your specs?

I did think about that but I have a fairly decent pc (8GB RAM, i7-4820, SSD etc. etc.) so I would have thought it would be fine and watching other videos, yours for example, run perfectly smoothly.

I presume I just have some settings on my 700D that need adjusting. I see that you use a 600D, I don't suppose you'd mind having a chat (or anyone else for that matter!) (here, pm's, wherever) about the settings if you have a spare 5 minutes at any point? I'd really appreciate it :)

Feel free to PM, I use Magic Lantern for my recording. Just to get this clear, is the playback choppy on YouTube or is it the raw footage on your comp?

Hi, sorry for the late reply - holiday shenanigans and all that!

It seems to be quite choppy on my pc as well as on the channel so I think it must be due to the settings I have set up on the 700D, I've tried fiddling around with it over the last couple of days and recording a few short test videos but it always seems to my eyes to be annoyingly jerky.

It doesn't seem so bad when I watch it on my phone (so smaller screen etc) so I'm just wondering if it may well be my computer, it just seems very odd because as I said I have got a fairly decent pc.

Going to keep messing around with settings and see what I can do ;)

Thanks for the replies, I may drop you a PM in a bit if I still can't solve it :)
