Can someone tell me how to kill trolls?

We used to have a troll on here, his name was splinter. That guy was a doucher. He would comment on every thread and tear everyone down..... or maybe he just followed me around, idk... but there was no link to his channel.... he would never give it to us.... hahahaha
 
Think of the old question, "if a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?" If a troll is completely ignored by everyone, they lose any reason for doing what they do.
 
I haven't had too many trolls bother me, but I've learned to either ignore them or try to be nice to them.. (easier said than done. lol!) The "nice" thing seems to work for me at least. A few of them have gone from hating to respecting, which was surprising. I guess the old saying that you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar might actually be true! : D
 
I haven't caught any on YouTube yet (knock on wood), but in general you definitely want to just ignore them. Dislikes/negative comments still help your videos rank higher and if they're really dedicated they're probably watching your videos 3 times to find something to hate you for, which helps cancel out the audience retention hit you take from spammers who pause your videos a couple seconds in. If they get really aggressive/threatening, block them, but yeah. Just ignore them and consider the fact that this is just one more step on the way to officially saying you've Made It.
