if you get Paint.net (don't go to paint.net it's not the right website) it's a software, if you just google is it's like a free version of photoshop. It's obviously missing a few things but it works a lot like it

Or gimp 2.8, its a VERY good software. Used it fo all my banner and avatar (On youtube) It works very well.

If you're moving to photoshop after though paint.net is set up a lot more like photoshop Gimp looks so much different
