Can i use a normal sized windscreen for my samson go mic?

i want to get a windscreen for my samson go mic but since its not a regular round mic i don't know if the windscreens would fit on it can anyone help

i alos apologize if this is in the wrong group/category i don't know where this would fit

I've moved it for you :)

I have the same mic (great mic, I love it) and don't use a pop filter at all and it's fine.

Are you doing this due to "pops" on the b's and p's? What I do for my tutorial commentaries is set it to cardioid and then just position the mic at a 45° angle to one side (sort of in front of my cheek) The aim is to position it so that when you talk, no exhaled air at all is hitting the mic, but it is still close enough to pick up your voice.

Try that first :)

Most condenser mic should work with most windscreen. I quite like Samson Mics, but I prefer it with an XLR input and a USB audio interface :)

Give it a try and tell us how it goes! :D

yes for the popping and since i'm stuck in my dorm ( it's not a lot of space) and the wind noise from outside ( the windows are thin so noise comes through) i want to use a windscreen or pop filter to minimize it

Nothing you said requires a pop filter. It won't filter out "wind noise" from the other side of a thin window.

What a pop filter does is prevent air from hitting the microphone diapraghm with enough force to overload it and cause it to clip. Windscreens only work when you're recording in the wind. Same theory behind the B+P sounds because you are producing wind with your mouth. If you position your microphone as Crown advised, you could be recording inside a 2 foot by 2 foot box and be just fine, so being in a dorm is irrelevant.

i know what a pop filter does

i have my mic at a 45 degree angle that's how i always have it

and yes so the wind created from my mouth is sometimes a problem if i had a windscreen that would solve that problem
reason why i asked the question "can i use a normal-sized windscreen for my samson go mic?"
i was hoping to get a yes or no answer for that ( not to offend anyone)
the wind (air) from my mouth is one of the main reasons for a windscreen

Well you can't have it positioned correctly then or it's on the wrong setting. I have exactly the same mic and do not use a pop filter and there are no pops :)

Not to offend anyone, but apparently you don't know what a pop filter does, because if you did you wouldn't ask this question. You could stretch a sock over the top of the mic and get a similar effect. Go ahead and use whatever size you want, make a big 3 foot across pop filter and use that. Effect will be essentially the same.

Pop filters are for either people who don't know how to work a mic, or for situations where the microphone is your second or third priority (livestreaming) and you can't be bothered with worrying about your positioning. Those who practice and really learn how to use their mic don't need a pop filter. This is true for ANY microphone.
