Can I get help with my gaming setup for ps4 please?

Hi everyone.

I've had a few different youtube channels in the past and made a few videos. They're not the greatest but I think they're still good.

I would like to kickstart youtube and start a new channel. This time I want to make really good high quality videos and start a gaming crew just like vanossgaming. I think the problem I had before was money but now that I have a job I can afford better equipment and software. So I am hoping someone out there wouldn't mind giving me some advice on my setup. I have three questions:

1- what capture card should I use? Is there a capture card where you can plug it into the ps4, do your recording, and then unplug it and plug it into your pc like an external hard drive and copy the recordings over.

I already have one capture card, think it's an avermedia. It's good but once you've done a recording it has to upload it to youtube which takes a long time. And it would also be awkward to get an Etherley cable too it.

I also cannot use capture cards that need to be connected to a laptop because I don't have one.

2- what video editing software should I use? I would like a software that is quite easy to learn how to use and can achieve good effects in the videos. Also to add background sounds and music easier. If also possible, I would like it to be a software that would effectively not only make it easier to edit videos, but also make it quicker.

3- usually, most capture cards require you to wear two headsets. One for your console to talk to friends and another for the capture card so it can pick up your voice. Usually you have to have your friends voices coming out the TV to get them in the recording too. I'm just wondering if a headset that has two jacks on the end could be plugged into both the console and capture card and achieve this without the requirement of two headsets.

Sorry about the post being so long.

When I do have a setup I'm thinking I'll make some videos for my channel and in a month or so I'll come back on here to try find some other guys with equal interests to collaborate with.

Anyways, thanks for reading if you managed to get this far and any tips or advice are much appreciated. :-)

^I use it, absolutely flawless. ~ 3 wires and no fuss!
You record whilst you play, hit "end record" to finish and it automatically puts the footage in a video editor for you.
USB Connection to your Laptop, B E A UTIFUL.
Can do facecam, mic recordings, everything really!

The key word here is "effects".
So to add music and sounds you pretty much need a piece of editing software that has several timelines. Unfortunately, many free options don't allow this!
Myself and another youtube @BigHead use Camtasia Studio to edit and add animations, sound and music. Check out our videos if you think you would be interested in Camtasia.
If you want to be really fancy: I would suggest paying the monthly subscription for Adobe After Effects & Adobe Premiere. That's the really high end stuff though.

The Elgato I mentioned above records like this:
You could use a laptop microphone to record your voice and it will also pick up the talking from your friends.
Another option you have is to inside the PS4 settings have it so everything you hear in your headset (including when you speak!) is OUTPUT into your TV speakers. The Elgato would then pick up everything that way as well!

Hope this helps!
I've had several capture cards in my time and Elgato is by far the best!

Hi Fezstar, thanks for your reply it was really helpful. I agree no doubt that Elgato is the best. I've seen loads of youtubers that use it.

However, I only have one problem. I do not own a laptop. Does the Elgato have to be plugged into one?

Ya, it has to be plugged into a computer/mac/laptop!
THERE IS STILL HOPE FOR YOU YET!

One idea I have for you (and it will only work if you have great internet connection!) is to set up a "private twitch stream".
Now I'm pretty sure that the PS4 allows native twitch streaming (built in). You can set up on twitch to "archive" all your streams which basically mean they will be saved on the website!

I'm pretty sure you can upload these videos onto YouTube straight from the twitch browser!

It just so happens I do have great Internet. One of the best available at that!

I'll definitely look into it. Although I'm not sure whether that would downgrade the quality of the recordings and all that kind of stuff. Plus I know that of you record using the ps4 software it makes it difficult to get friends voices in.

But again, thanks for the advice. It is much appreciated!
