Can a channel acquire an another channel's name?

Somehow it is possible to get another channel. You probably have to have connections though. Freedom is a youtube multichannel network and they own channels like sport (youtube.com/sport) and gamers (youtube.com/gamers). This is not a vanity url and there is no way those urls were available. Also, Shane Dawson got the youtube.com/shane channel. And even Fred back in the day got the youtube.com/fred channel from another user. So I guess it doesn't hurt to have connections. Obviously if this feature can't be available to everyone and small YouTuber like me couldn't get another channel, but maybe you know somebody or someway to make it happen.

I'd say they were :p

like we've got quite a few 2-4 letter ones of really common words also, check my above post for the requirements for a reclaim

I know they were available for a re-claim but I was talking about those urls not being available to the average user with no connections. YouTube has been around long enough all simple urls have been taken at one point, but maybe those people closed their account. Or they account got deleted in 2010 when YouTube deleted dead accounts. I had an account with a really good url I got in 2008 and thought I might use it one day. But I never touched that account, so in 2010 YouTube closed that account. But YouTube doesn't do that anymore.

You need to have an assigned partner manager :)

I'm not sure if they all can do it, maybe only those that deal with brands. You could always ask a network to claim one on your behalf though :P

Yeah. I don't need a url. But I was just saying how a normal channel can't just create a channel with a url if the name is unavailable.

Names they were open and have been closed cannot be used again unless they are reclaimed.

You could use something like BabyteethOfficial or something like that?

Twice now I've found channels that had uploaded every one of our videos, pretty much just mirrored it. When I find them YouTube takes them down but they just open up another channel and do the same thing. For me I've found this happens (piracy) from 3-4 specific countries.
