Buying subs and views

It's business. Celebrities are always getting busted for it, and tv shows that have youtube channels do it as well. It creates a brand impression, I don't see anything wrong with it because I understand brand positioning and marketing. Gotta do what you've gotta do to maintain your image!

The only thing I find annoying is when they buy like 24k subs yet only have about 300-1k views/vid. Like damn, be consistent or don't bother!

I think mainly popular music channels buy views on a new release of a single or whatnot to boost it's popularity and likes from the get go.

As long as there are people who want to believe there is a quick and easy shortcut to success, there will be other people trying to separate them from their money. There are no secrets to success. If there were, why would anyone sell them?

Sometimes people who decide to buy subscribers or views, does it to make themselves stand out better. what if you were only able to get 10 subscribers, and only ever gotten 50 views? i know i would feel more compelled to buy views or subscribers if that were so.

From a more business oriented perspective, having a higher number of subscribers and views can give your channel a more professional look. for example small youtubers generally don't have as high quality content as the big ones. the obvious reason is the resources avaliable and offered.

So if you bought lets say 2000 subscribers, people would feel more compelled to subscribe. just like people feel more compelled to like a page on facebook if it already have (x) amount of likes.

That is a very good way of looking at it, i always wondered why people would buy views or liked etc etc

lol its an easy why to get your channel shut down thats for sure. But I don't think people think about how real subs and real views help your channel more than the fake ones. Fake subs wont interact with your videos or watch them.

Theoretically buying views, likes and subscribers for a new channel could increase the watch time on videos, my thinking being that when people see a video with a lot of views and a good like/dislike ratio they subconsciously give that video higher value and are therefore more likely to give the video a chance. I do it myself, I'm sure I do. If I come across a video with a low number of views on a channel with a low number of subs, and the video starts slowly, I am likely to bail pretty quickly. However, if that video has a bunch of views and the channel has a bunch of subs, subconsciously my mind associates those things with good content. Something like "well, if this many people watched it, and they have this many subs, there must be something good about it. I'll give it a couple more minutes".

That is the only understandable reason for anyone to purchase views/subs. Basically, for appearances, which could help watch time metrics. The downside, of course, is that fake views tend to hurt watchtime metrics. If someone told me they bought 500 views on each of their videos as a head start, I'd be curious to see how well that strategy served them. Many of those who sell views/subs on various black hat type forums maintain that they are 'high retention' but I have yet to see results that point to that not being a bunch of nonsense.

Adwords is a much better option, when done right.
