usually i'll just be completely honest and tell them what they need to work on, but with that i'll tell them what looks good. Its a good balance in the end and avoiding coming across the wrong way.
Some people ask for honest feedback and expect that everyone will honestly love what they're doing because they're so invested in it. If everyone doesn't love it they get hit hard. Before I started I realized I would have to have a thick skin about it. I personally would rather know what people think because that's what you're going to get in the Youtube comments anyway. There are ways to tell people what you think without being insulting. If you ask for feedback and someone is just reaming you out, then I wouldn't pay attention because they're not interested in giving you any real feedback.
