Brothers And Sons

I've Got It
Just got my first copyright claim on a video. It was a video for the Destiny Beta which Bungie allowed people to upload to YouTube. The claim was submitted by a company named Brothers and Sons. They seem pretty bogus so I'm disputing the claim. I'll let you all know how it goes.

its the fake claim, but i sugges you find their actual channel and send them mesasge, it will be faster for respond

I've just been hit with three fraudulent claims by this 'Brothers and Sons' company.
I've contacted Activision and they do not know who they are, and reassured me that their Destiny content is ok to be monetized.

Of course, the YouTube 'dispute claim' process has gone completely ignored and is useless.

I have contacted Activision again to seek further assistance.

I'm pretty sure they end up taking all the money at the moment even if YouTube gives the rights back to you later on. We are technically speaking lawsuit here. But most of the time you can't even find the person on the other side.

Yeh they do take all the income. It's such a flawed, and easily exploited, system of YouTube's =(

Yeah the whole situation is ridiculous. Thankfully that particular video had earned 0 money so it's not a big deal but it is very frustrating that the system can be so easily exploited. What is particularly ridiculous is that I was given 10 days to respond to their claim but they are given over a month to respond to my dispute. If I could find someone on the other end I would gladly give a phone call to the scumbags, but they seem to be non-existent.

Just for posterity, here's how ContentID usually works. Content Owners upload sample content into the system in order for it to automatch and flag videos that used this content. However, have you ever wondered what would happen if you were able to register one of your video game vids with ContentID? All you did was try to protect your content from others who were stealing and uploading it, however the other effect it has is that now you're a registered content owner for maybe a cutscene, or a song in the game. This is precisely why YouTube doesn't let all that many groups into ContentID.

As lovely as it is to call for lawsuits and toss the term fraud around, it is far easier to explain these incorrect claims by human stupidity and ignorance in not understanding how the system works.

It is the same reason that I had a false copyright claim on a Heroes of the Storm video. HotS is still in Alpha and uses soundtrack material from World of Warcraft. Turned out, some music remixer had used a portion of the Karazhan them in one of his songs which was claimed under ContentID by one of the YouTube content owners, likely on his behalf. It's not malicious or intentional. It's just a bulk claim and somebody in the system had a video entered into ContentID that shouldn't have been.

File your counter claims and calm your tits. It'll be fine.[DOUBLEPOST=1407790574,1407790458][/DOUBLEPOST]

This is not true. The moment you file a counter claim, any earnings are frozen.
