Branding Assistance - Changing my Audience Base

WeiseGamer

Your #1 Source For Indie Gaming
Hey all,

I do reviews for indie games. I have a subscriber base that is probably 60-70% developers, who watch videos that relate to their game, and never continue to watch for the most pat.

I want to brand myself as THE place to go for indie game reviews, I rank fairly high for many of my videos now on search results (I have a thread on here in the general chat area called "TubeBuddy Success" if you are curious), and I think I need some help getting through to people that are actual gamers, who are my target, rather than JUST developers who want a review.

Not sure what you're already doing, but here's what I would do to acheive that goal:

  • Make myself a focus of the video. Not THE focus, but a focus, like including my face or adding humor throughout the entire thing with dialog or extra graphics. That way the video has a tone to where if someone were to watch another video by me, they would get a familiar feeling across all the videos.
  • Promote myself in the comment section where I get the game. So if I got it from gamejolt, if there's a comment section or review section (I haven't been there in awhile) I'd plug my channel saying something like "If you're interested in playing this game, check out this review video I did on XYZ game: youtu(dot)be/XYZLink"
  • Go crazy with the self plugging on other comment sections so that people start seeing me everywhere. Brand your videos, I like your intro but it seems kind of slowed down for some reason. Speed it up maybe? Just to give it a more hype vibe if that makes sense...

My videos are branded like crazy, thumbnails are, etc. Everything is extremely cohesive in my opinion (I've made changes over time but older videos all look similar and newer ones all do as well for example).

My avatar is my watermark and truly looks like me. When I stream my facecam is there, but for my reviews I don't want to take away from the game so I don't have a face-cam and my audience has preferred it that way so far.

I post my videos on the video section for the game in steam, post reviews on steam sometimes, use various hash tags for video games, reviews, developers, etc and get 10k-20k impressions a week off those.

I feel I'm doing everything right, it's just a matter of time, but I also kind of feel I need a brand expert and/or marketing campaign to boost me to a point where its like, "oh you wanna play indie games? check out weise"
