The Snowball does it's job, but the Yeti sounds so much better. Even if you had the editing software to edit the audio, it will allow you to have better raw audio quality, not to mention potentially completely omit that extra "fixing the audio" step.
I use a Røde Video Mic Pro. It's mostly for attaching to a DSLR but it has a 3.5mm so if have that input it could work. I also have an extention cable and a stand so i can put it anywhere I want! it's about the $250AU mark but I've found it to have crystal clear sound... When I worked out how to use it.
Everyone goes for a Blue mic and my friend has a snowball but it doesn't sound that great. I have a samson Co1u, check out my gaming channel /mrpixeleyed to see how it performs
I'm personally using the Yeti, for the time being. I don't regret buying it. It's great for solo commentaries and dual commentaries work really well. I'm still adjusting to it though, finding the right positioning and such. Slowly getting there. I plan on upgrading to something better later on but that's only if the channel paid for the mic. Otherwise Yeti all the way... or until it stops working, then I'm screwed.
I have a Blue Snowball and honestly, it gets the job done. Provides clean, clear audio, I also have a pop filter on it if that makes any difference. Some people are audiophiles and have to have perfect sound and depth to their voices.. I am perfectly content with good, clean audio and it's cheap if you are just starting out.
