Blizzard Hit Me with a Copyright Claim

I just posted my first episode of a Warlords of Draenor series I am starting and *bam* Disputed 3rd Party Content, and what's worse ... it's *banned worldwide*. Really Blizzard?

They haven't changed their YouTube video policy as far as I can tell, so I disputed the claim. That might be a mistake, but I've been posting WoW content now for 2.5 years without so much as a hint of an issue until now.

If they're gonna start pulling this crap, they need to change their policy. :stomp:

Wow that sucks. I bet you they will quickly change their policy now you have disputed. Big companies like that really wind me up with the crap they pull.

Well one bit of good news, since I made my dispute, they unbanned my video and it's viewable. Let's see if it stays that way.

Did you check for an embargo? Sometimes they forget to lift them. I've had it happen with Ubisoft before. Blizzard also provide blanket permission from what I'm aware of as well. @Bluebear does a fair bit of WoW content and I don't think she's had any problems.

How do I check for embargos? What is that anyway?

In 2.5 years this is the first time I've had an issue with Blizzard content (WoW or Diablo III).

Howardy :D! I do indeed do a lot of wow hehehe :D.

Wow I have never heard of a blizz video being hit with a copyright claim. There is a page which clearly states we can use it in videos :/ I think it must be an error :(

An Embargo is basically a ban a publisher can place on a producing or providing information on a product. It's a common practice among developers/publishers in the gaming industry, most commonly used during betas/alphas but a practice that's frowned upon by the community especially if there's an embargo on a finalised game. I think the last update for WoW was more than 2.5yrs ago so you might have missed that 1 if they do. The only way to find out if there's an embargo is to contact the developers. Either way, whether it was an embargo they forgot to lift or an ID claim in error; it was a mistake. The 1 I had from Ubisoft from what I recall didn't allow me to dispute it (there was no option), it placed an instant strike on my account, which fortunately was removable by removing the video and eventually Ubisoft released the embargo on the video I had posted.

Yeah there is page - if you look at my dispute, I included the link and copied the relevant paragraph related to it. I do hope this was an error. :([DOUBLEPOST=1416219243,1416219183][/DOUBLEPOST]

The last for WoW update was 2.5 years ago? Um ... they just released a new expansion pack just last week ...
