You mean to tell me a talent scout watched harry potter, twilight, star wars and decided to make those people stars? That is fascinating!
Seriously my point still stands. None of those people became stars without pursuing it, even though they may well have been first encouraged to pursue it by a talent scout. What, exactly, makes being discovered on youtube less valid than being discovered in a grocery store?

haha dude, the actors that are in those movies had no intention of becoming stars. They were discovered and then put into those movies. You obviously didn't get what I said.[DOUBLEPOST=1350939550][/DOUBLEPOST]This is wrong -----> "None of those people became stars without pursuing it"
 
Taking an acting job is a form of pursing an acting career. Unless, of course, you believe they were powerless to turn the job down.

Being discovered on youtube is as good a way to get discovered as any!

You don't get my point. I'm trying to say that some of these people had no intention of being movie stars except maybe Dawson. If some movie executive decided to have them in a movie still does not change the fact that they had no real intentions of being movie stars, and this is what I'm talking about. You seem to be saying they were on Youtube and that they were pursuing a movie career. Which as far as I can tell is false.

I never said it did.[DOUBLEPOST=1350942211,1350942049][/DOUBLEPOST]If someone comes up to you and says "hey Ill put you in a movie and you'll be a star" this is not pursuing a movie star career.

That is not what I intended to say, but it does seem to be what the title of this thread is suggesting.

The only point I was trying to make is that people gain celebrity all sorts of ways. I don't see it as any kind of a problem or scandal for it to happen via youtube. If you agree with that I think we may have reached common ground.

No, no problem or scandal there. The title was more of a way to get attention.
 
You guys are so late! I saw this months ago! I think it's a joke. The movie would have been talked more about until now.
