Big changes to account standing: copyright strikes & community guidelines

Clam-

I've Got It
I wasn't able to find a thread about this, so figured I'd share this with others since this seems to be the most recent change to YouTube and the article below was posted just two days ago:

In case these changes were not rolled out to all accounts at the same time, this is how it looks like:

And here is account with one copyright strike:

only just noticed this thanks for pointing it out, went to look after you posted this :)

Yeah, these are some exciting stuff, actually - as of now, we can appeal Community Guidelines strikes too! Also, if copyright strike is received, ability to upload longer videos doesn't go away and neither does option to make video unlisted. Will have to dig into this further tomorrow, but I like these changes!

What happens to your account when you get a copyright strike?
We all make mistakes. When you get a copyright strike, it acts as a warning, but your account won't be penalized. However, if your live stream or archived live stream is removed for copyright, your access to live streaming will be restricted for 90 days.

If you receive three copyright strikes:

  • Your account will be terminated.
  • All the videos uploaded to your account will be removed.
  • You won't be able to create new accounts.

This is definitely exciting, it looks like they're finally doing something about their flawed striking system.

If I wasn't so busy, I'd have made a thread about this 2 days ago. The biggest thing I'm excited about is "cover" copyright claims. They never listed this anywhere, but when you have a claim that lets you get half the ad revenue, that would be disabled when you had a copyright strike and they had to be re-enabled once you were back in good standing. Now it stays enabled even in bad standing.

One thing I'm unsure about is the thing about 3 strikes. Before, I believe that if you got 3 strikes, you had 7 days to get below 3 or your account was suspended. It would be active again once you got below 3 strikes again, though. Now, the wording makes it sound like there is no 7-day grace period and your account is gone for good. Does anyone know if that is the case or if that description is just overly simplified?

Nowadays you can appeal anything on YouTube.
You can appeal ID claims;
You can appeal copyright strikes;
You can appeal guideline strikes;
You can appeal age restrictions.

What more is there to appeal? Country based restrictions? I guess those depend on the country's legislation so can't really appeal those. Next thing we need is corrected money distribution after content ID has been placed and then everything will be gucci.

There are so many restrictions and regulations now adays, i feel like there trying to kill the smaller youtubers
