Bethany Mota on DWTS

I Love YTtalk
I'm not a huge fan of Bethany or anything (I don't watch too many beauty gurus) but I just found out she is going to be on the new season of Dancing with the stars and I find her inspiring. So I wrote about her:

Bethany Mota (youtube.com/macbarbie07) has millions of subscribers across her two channels where she posts fashion, beauty videos, diys and vlogs. She started YouTube when she was bullied and never expected it to go anywhere. She went to VidCon in 2010 and waited in the lines to meet the famous YouTubers, little did she know a few years later she would be one of them. Bethany was given the opportunity to start her own clothing line through Areopostle, and apparently her clothing is one of the few items the store is actually selling. If it weren't for her clothing line and accessory line, Areopostle might have had to file for Bankruptcy. What I find even more crazy is Bethany is only 18 managing her crazy internet success while still doing high school online. She recently won a teen choice award and is currently nominated for a Streamy award. Today, it was announced that Bethany will be on the new season of Dancing with the Stars. I think Bethany's story shows you never know where the future will take you and sometimes success comes when you aren't looking. Also, her appearance on dancing with the stars further proves that YouTube stars are becoming the new Hollywood stars. The power of the internet is great and if you combine the power of the internet with some perseverance and hard work, who knows what will happen?

thats so inspiring :'D
still not gonna watch her channel, but you go girl!

Seems like all these big fashion and make up channels have had some really bad life experiences or trauma's occur in their lives which become a reoccurring theme or mention on their channels. One was bullied, one was repeatedly sexually assaulted, another grew up in poverty, someone else had their home burnt down and another was mistreated by their parents and so on and so forth. Hmmmm.....[DOUBLEPOST=1409283666,1409281767][/DOUBLEPOST]Not but seriously, seriously, I believe that life tragedies/hardships helps build character. Works as a great motivator as well. I just hope that when viewers see such people like Bethany Mota who persevere thru hardships, they don't get any Illusions that they can do the same exact thing and can achieve the same success.

I can always count on you to give your honest opinion. And I never said this story would inspire everyone. What kind of stories (youtube related) do inspire you?

None really, some youtubers I have a lot of respect for, but none really inspire me. Athene is a bit of a don, raised over 10 million for charity, teaches his audience a lot about politics and promotes a lot of activism for worthwhile causes.

Personally when I think of people who I would describe as inspiring or who could inspire me, youtubers aren't really the sort of people who would come to mind. Yeah they have some success and are doing their thing, but I am more inspired by people who sacrifice things other than people who gain things.

You would very rarely find a youtuber who would be willing to sacrifice any of their success in an attempt to really change something. The sort of sacrifice people like Nelson Mandela made, literally giving up a whole chuck of their lives to fight for what is right.

That's the only reason I mentioned Athene as one youtuber who I have respect for. He decided to fully commit to being all about raising money for charity and helping out as many people as possible and because of that drastic change his channel lost tens of thousands of subscribers. He didn't care though, he just wanted to do the right thing.

When someone uses their life for the sole purpose of making other people's lives better and nothing else. That is when I feel that they are truly and inspiring person.

But that's just me :)

@TheBatteryChicken the only reason I said YouTuber related is because this a YouTube forum. And to be honest, the people I find the most inspiring aren't YouTubers, but again this is YouTube forum. And to be honest again, Bethany Mota is not one of the YouTubers that really inspires me a lot. That being said, I think many YouTubers have really cool stories of how they got where they are now and Bethany is one of those people. And her story does show that sometimes success comes when you aren't looking for it and too many people nowadays are trying to be famous on YouTube.

And everyone has their own opinion of what they like for example, if I had a choice of usernames I would never pick "thebatterychicken" but obviously you liked it enough to choose it

Oh and yeah I don't really like Chicken so. . .

I struggle to feel empathetic towards most youtubers when u hear their sob stories. Unless they actually did have it hard, but that's not too often. I usually just let them carry on living in their fantasy worlds mainly because it's not affecting me.

There has only been once instance where I have heard a youtubers life story and actually though 'fair play, this person has done well to still be alive let alone have a successful YouTube channel'

I just feel that YouTube has actually made people soft and is a place where a lot of people thrive off of sympathy. It actually works in your favour to show weakness if you are on YouTube and I'm not really about that life hence why I am so cynical about it.
